Got these yesterday. Looking kinda lonely.
Cocobolo .... cocobolo ..... it's fun to say

Took to the range yesterday with my 3 1911:

New SAM government,
Norinco Government from Marstar (4 years old)
Norinco Government from CanAm

Ran 3 kinds of ammo:

Norinco surplus
220 -230 gn BDX defect bullet, reloads
Western Munitions Reloads

The SAM ran everything I put through it.
Both Norincos had FTFs with my reloads.
The Norinco ammo had a lot more felt recoil than the other two kinds.

With my loads and the Norinco, with the CanAm 1911, I could get a 4" 9 shot group shooting from a rest at 25 yards - the best I could do with any of the guns

Good info, thanks Harble! Were both norc's stock?

Guess the stock Norinco guns just need the extra charge in them to counteract the roughness. From all accounts they are fairly accurate though and that's good!
Haven't had mine out yet, probably next week!

Boy has this thread ever slowed down! It used to be on page 1 of the new posts almost all the time, lol. I'm waiting for the CFC/CFO hurdles on one order and getting some runaround on payment receipt delay on the other (TD ebanking or CanAm not sure which). Not in any huge rush or anything but I expect CanAm is over the initial pile of orders by now. For those of us still waiting, its always good to see others' pics if they have done anything to their stock pistol, hear more initial range reports and comments on "as received" condition of the gun, anything to help pass the time.

Received one of mine last week shot it today, was shooting low left but will be back at the range Monday to shoot using a rest used to shooting MP9 so a bit of adjustment i think. Expecting the second one Monday, will prb end up on the EE :) Will post some pics tomorrow did a detailed strip and replaced the "tootsie roll" grips with wooden ones.

Well today I received my new hardwood grip panels purchased on eBay. I think it looks much better now. They are darker looking in person and not as red. Not bad for $22 shipped from Thailand.

Those are some nice grips!
I've been looking on ebay but with the 10,000 to choose from, and being a 1911 noobie, I don't know what will fit.
Could you post a link to those grips?

Ordered May 19
Payment May 27
Transfer Initiated May 31
Shipment Notification today... should be 3 weeks + a day to have it in my hands. maybe i'm a lucky one.

Similar situation for me:
Ordered May 20th.
Payment accepted May 30th, transfer initiated June 5, shipment notification June 7!
Now to see if this or my grips and mags will get here first. Here's to the lucky ones!

ricohman,

The seller I bought mine from is not currently listing any 1911 grips (lots of S&W grips though), however if you search eBay for "1911 diamond grips" there are similar ones to choose from. If they are listed for 1911 government or commander model they should fit. Have a good look at the pics though a number of them don't appear to have the notch cut for the mainspring housing pin at the heel of the grip.

Brownells has similar ones on sale now too at a similar price.

Here is another photo...

Well... We'll see. Anticipating, but in no real hurry - very busy time of year for me. Ordered 3 June. Payment 5 June. Now 8 June. First day off to play in mid-July, so I can wait.

During which time - take a pair of existing factory grips (purchased a while ago at a Vancouver gun store) and use them as pattern to make a pair of grips. Dremel and checkering tools, here I come!

Thanks for the tips! Great looking 1911.

How are you guys not sold out of this combo yet? You must have an unlimited supply for a one time deal! BTW, approximately what "date" of order are you on in regards to processing the transfers? I have received the notice that payment has been confirmed, but no transfer info yet. Order #3959184

By the looks of things on here, you guys are swamped with orders.

Cheers.

Well to answer...they must have a heck of a boatload of these tings. I purchased mine in early May, waited for transfer to go through, and I received it by June. That being said a small part of the wait was the order processing. they process 100-150 a day and told me it would be approx 4 days to get to me. The remainder of the wait was with the RCMP, and shipping from BC to SK.

Oh and if your from BC I have heard rumors about the BC CFO officers being asleep at the helm. Wouldn't be the first time a ferry ran ashore....

Got mine out. Nice shooter. No need to change anything, not even the tootsi roll grips lol.

Excellent video FastFord! Thanks for the show!

I'm expecting mine sometime this week.

And, miracle of miracles, The Lovely Wife decided to head up North and spend

a few days at her (our) cottage with her girlfriends!! So she won't be here when

CanPar delivers not one, but TWO boxes of cheese. Or is it Krunchy Bars. I forget.

LOL!!
