Stolen pistol 5 years ago recovered (now with test fire video edit on first post )

I'm happy for you.

I'm most interested in how it got back into the hands of the OPP. Did they find it in a drug bust? Was someone found carrying it? Was it turned in randomly?

Were the police able to give you this info?

It may be hard for a newfie to understand, but how is asking the guy about if it was covered under insurance a political thing?

It's just finding out who the legal owner is if insurance paid out then insurance owns it since they buy your stolen stuff and if it gets recovered they then sell it to cover what they paid. Sometimes people get paid allot less then what there stuff was worth and the insurance company makes a profit when they sell the stuff that has happened to a good number of people they got screwed over good. They even wanted to buy back there stuff but the insurance company knew they could get more for it so they sold it. That happens sometimes. Sometimes the insurance company sells it back to the people that bought it and they're happy to get money back for it.

I'm more interested in how it got stolen in the first place so I can try to avoid having anything stolen.

I certainly want to shake the mans hand and thank him for doing a great job .
It should be a Kodak moment .
when a police officer hands over a 45 auto to a civilian .
Shows a lot of trust on the officer part in my opinion and speaks heaps about the department .
especially with all the lowlifes they deal with .

It was stolen in a break and enter at a house I was living at .
safe was broken in to and they stole it .
I now have three barriers solid door with dead bolt on the third floor of a apartment building , the gun room is locked itself, then the safe were all firearms are trigger locked

got the call from my local PD that it was recovered two months ago and that it was in the possetion of the OPP .
The opp called me on Friday to tell me that they were done with forensics and I could pick it up any time ..
I told him that I would have to get a statt. and I would be there asap .
then he told me "AHHHHHH why don't we just forget about all that sh%t , how about I just drop it off to ya ".
So I said Hell ya that would be great arrangments have been made for today ..... so heers hoping all goes as planned ...
And no it was not insured . that was the first question the city police asked .

Good on him must be a 1%er ( making all the other jerkoffs look good):nest: flame suit on.

Great news...You will have a great night checking out the condition of the gun..Cleaning it etc...On a brighter note they are super tough guns and hopefully she pulled through in decent shape and she will slip right back into your collection with a neat story to tell !!

Who cares how they got it back? Its going home. About as good as getting a free gun given how long it has been gone. That is fantastic!

Who cares that the OP got it back? Who cares that it got stolen in the first place? Who cares about anything? Jesus, this is a message forum.

What type of safe was it? and how did they break into it?

Hope they nail them with breaking into a building to steal a firearm. It carry's a 25 year sentence.

and it's the first charge plea bargained away, by dirt bag laywers. Never been used, just like the min 10 years for the commission of a crime with a firearm....hope it's in nice shape, glad the local opp shop is so helpful,
cheers!
