Took my new Browning 1911-22 to the range today and put 130 rounds through it without a single failure....so far so good.
At $671.99 this is an expensive toy but it is a lot of fun. At just under a pound it is light enough to make the trip to the range every time.
The tiny sights make me appreciate the sights on most of my other guns.
The tiny bullets make seeing where I hit very difficult but with the help of a pair of binoculars I was able to determine 8 inch groups at 7 meters.

Keep practicing and fine tuning your technique. The gun itself is more than capable of 1 inch groups at that distance.

Mind you the fact that you say you needed binos to see the holes at only 7 meters suggests to me that your eyesight might just be holding you back...... Or was the "7 meters" a mis-type?

It was 7 meters, I recently got a new prescription for glasses and they are not quite right.
The money I save on ammo is going toward some of those targets that show a bright yellow or orange spot where the bullet hits.
I was shooting CCI Standard Velocity and they shot very cleanly and reliably, the gun is very easy to clean. Taking the gun down is very similar to a full size 1911 except the disassembly stops after the barrel and slide are removed, any further disassembly is not recommended.
I expect the price will drop on these guns when the cost of tooling is covered, there are several MIM parts visible but I don't have a problem with that.
The gun feels very solid when shooting and it doesn't seem to be straining anything so I expect it to hold together for a long time.

I share your frustration. If I'm right in judging your age based on your user name then I'm only 3 years behind you. I too know well the frustration of "oldguyeye'tis"..... :D

It's a good thing that we get more understanding and tolerant as we get older. The curve balls life throws at us isn't the sort of thing that the younger generation could deal with.... :D

Look into making up a batch of Ed's Red cleaning mix. It's a mixture of ATF and solvents. I've used it for guns like this where it's not easy to clean out the deeper parts. I suck some up in a plastic squeeze bottle and use that to squirt/flush out the buried bits. Works nicely and is cheap to make from stuff available at the local CT and hardware paint departments. Recipes are a simple Google away if you use the keywords "ed's red mix".

Brake cleaner spray cans work as well. But the brake cleaner strips off any protective and lubricating oils. The Ed's Red mix drains and dries away to leave a light film of ATF which both protects and lubricates. It's super smelly though. Wear disposable nitrile gloves and do the work in the garage or near an exhaust fan to avoid fumes floating around the house.

They are very nice looking guns. But when I held one it simply did not fit my larger hands. Large to Xlarge gloves here. They really are nicely done though so it's nice that the gun found a happy owner.

Bought my Browning 1911/22 a few weeks ago for the girlfriend (yea and myself!). Just put 300+ through it today of Federal 36 gr (525 pk). No issues at all. Accurate as heck. Skinny: "$671.99"....WOW....I paid $535.00 at P&D, my sister in-law bought hers in Calgary for $530.00. I'm hoping you have a typo on your price. Ouch !

I really do not see the point of this gun unless you have very small hands, the store I saw it in had a price of $900.00 on it, maybe that skewed my views.

A regular sized Browning in 1911 (22 cal) would be a yes for me.. How are they (smaller) ones selling? Maybe the larger frame $500.00 -$600 would be more like it

I picked one up last thursday and havnt set it down since, My hands arnt huge by any means but they arnt "very small" either, I would say average for 23 years old. And they seem to sell like hot cakes, most places never seem to keep them in stock very long. And its a blast to shoot and more reliable than my p22 and mosquito ever were. My theory is: Take a standard 1911 chambered in .45, Now take one chambered in .22 why not shrink the rest of the gun to match the calibre?

There is no real point to having one of these...they are just so damned cute I couldn't resist.
The $900 dollar gun may have been the 100 year commemorative that some one thinks is a collectors item already.
I have two full size 1911's in .45ACP and a commander as well, I traded off both of my .22LR pistols and this Browning was in stock at my local gun store (at the ridiculous price mentioned). I almost got one from the EE for $400 but I just missed out on it.:bangHead:

I like these newer models with the walnut grips, and don't worry I bought mine at a little local shop too.... its still hurts to sit down.... if you get what I am saying. But at least I got some presents in the mail today that compliment it! :D

Dare I ask where you got the mags/how much? I would like to have a spare just in case something goes wrong with the ONE that came with the gun.
