Ontario to Alberta hunting license?

In the near future, I will be moving to Alberta.
I have my hunting license here in Ontario... can I transfer, or challenge the Alberta license or will I have to do the whole process there as a new hunter?

No problem. We have lots of limited entry draws here so opportunity will be a bit limited for the first few years but be sure to get your name in and start building priority.

I will say the " win card " is a joke compared to the onterrible outdoors card . All licences are printed on receipt paper and often get destroyed in your wallet. I wish they had the stickers like outdoors card.

Worked just fine while I was there, and better than the BC twenty page hunting license booklets.

That's right no time requirements but you have to show that you are a resident. The easiest way is with a drivers license and if you can produce an existing hunting license or proof that you had a hunter training course elsewhere you do not have to take a test.

Just be happy that you can get a license, meaning that we are allowed to hunt. I don't know how it becomes destroyed in your wallet.

If you are moving to Alberta in the fall, I reckon it would be best NOT to buy any hunting permits in Ont. and do any hunting there before you come to Alberta. If you then bought permits and hunted in Alberta it may be a problem.

The ON card is nice. But there is silver in every lining................you can go onto the RELM website and print as many licenses as you want, 24 hours a day. I don't put them in my wallet anyway. A dozen different licenses plus tags plus wires won't fit in my wallet ..................the Alberta advantage all over again. Happy Hunting Jeep

Stickers for big game licences are now a thing of the past in Ontario. You get a receipt when you buy your licence, the licence is processed in the U.S. ( Tennessee, I believe), and you get your tag in the mail, which is also your licence. Stupid.

If you are moving to Alberta in the fall, I reckon it would be best NOT to buy any hunting permits in Ont. and do any hunting there before you come to Alberta. If you then bought permits and hunted in Alberta it may be a problem.
