My gun jammed on every shot. This is a brand new KSG and the first time I have shot it. Looking at it I think I found out what the problem is. On the back end of the forearm there is a notch cut out in the rail. It is only on one side of rail and I think it should be notched right across both sides of the rail. When jacking back the forearm it can't go right back because it hits on the bump under the slide release leaver.

I'll post some pics of it and if anyone who has a KSG could tell me if it is notched out like theirs or if theirs is notched out on both halfs of the forearm. If so I will have to get it looked to get fixed?

Sh!t. Looking at it right now. Don't get what your asking. Do you have a better photo or can you clarify?

I think that channel in the forend is there for a reason, and one side didn't get done? Are there impact marks on the "unfinished side"? This would cause short stroking = jams.

hhmm... Jamming on walmart(winchester) short "brass" ammo? tight chambers, or imperfections in the chamber DO NOT like the short "brass" (wtf is that crap?) shells.

Yep that is what im thinking is happening... It should be a bigger notch but wasn't done at the factory

I've had problems with the shells shown Left on this pic, same not present with the Right "high brass" shells.

O.K. I get you. Just one side notched on mine.

So on your KSG there is only a notch on only one side of the bottom forearm rail and it dosn't jam because of a short stroke? I think it is meant to be wider on mine and wasn't done at the factory... see the pics of the notch in my rail dose that look like yours?

What's happening? Hard extractions or failure to feed?

Extracts every time but doesn't release the next round from the mag tube every time like 90% of the time and the elevator sometimes wont drop down low enugh to pick up a shell after i pushed the release on the mag tube with my finger to get the shell to pop out

Yes definitely only one side of rail is notched. I have been racking it like a madman as I heard short shucking was an issue. I am using 2 3/4 Sellier & Bellot recoil reduced slugs. No issue. only 40 rounds in though.

That is short stroke symptoms, but why is the question.

I agree with Nine. I have had troubles with the "cheapest" ammo & hard extractions, I think the bases on the shells are 'steel'??? And, from the pics posted, it is really hard to see the problem you are trying to describe... Are you absolutely sure that you are firing the shot & pumping the gun with authority? You can NOT slowly move the pump rearward & then forward after firing... The gun needs the inertia to cycle reliably.

Try buckshot & slugs, these shells have high BRASS & have worked 100% in my KSG.

Cheers
Jay
