Anybody watched that new show? Meat Eater

I checked out his first 4 shows last night. I like how he goes to the roughest places to hunt and then has to hump out his kill.

I saw the ad on WILD but as a non-hunter (for now... someone show me), I didn't pay much attention to it but I decided to check it out after seeing this thread. Man, this guy is awesome! Really knows his stuff, and you can tell he has a passion for what he does and also for conservation. Thanks for the recommendation.

I stopped watching hunting shows.

"As Jim-Bob sits patiently in his GORILLA tree stand, perfect concealed by his REALTREE camo, he spots a XX-point buck (*dramatic music*) carefully tread until the field prepared with MOSSYOAK BIOLOGIC. He stealthily raises his REMINGTON MODEL 700 and centres the crosshairs of his SIMMONS REALTREE 3-9x40 behind the shoulder, and slowly squeezes the trigger on his SMALL ##### ULTRA MAGNUM, sending the BARNES TRIPLE SHOCK to it's mark........(dramatic pause) que.*banjo music then acoustic guitar*

Checkout this show. I only watched one episode, but I don't recall even one sponsor being mentioned which was very, very nice for a change. It seems like all hunting and fishing shows are more about sponsors than fishing or hunting

Nor did I see any Norinco or Mossbergs used while filming Hakx Laugh2

You should check out his youtube channel. Theres a bit more on the skinning and processing and a few recipes. The show is still fairly new, and its an active account so they add stuff in often. You can also ask him questions on the channel, he does comment on the videos too.

What is his youtube channel? I'll go look for it but for others that might be interested, the username would be nice!

Thanks for the tip!

Well that was a stupid question... for those looking his youtube channel is "MeatEaterTV"

so far so good, but not a fan, nor do I see any reason for leaving your game over night. If the shot placement is good, (and you know where your shot hit) then there is no good reason for leaving your game till the next day to pick it up. Any animal shot in the vitals, will be dead with in minutes.
IMHO.

Have you ever shot an animal just before dark 6000 feet up?

Steven Rinella is my wife and my favorite hunter celebrity. Great attitude, and shows his follies once and awhile, plus he mostly spot and stalks, which is my favorite form of hunt. (Don't have patience for trees/blinds)
His first show I liked even more (Wild Within)

the episode with Joe Rogan & Bryan Callen is the one I'm looking forward to seeing. Joe bags a Mule deer his first hunt

ever

Same here. Never knew Joe Rogan was a hunter , should be good.
I only have Netflix and Internet so it may take a while. But from what I've seen on YouTube with his different approach on hunting, cooking in the rough it caught my interest as one of those shows not endorsed by the usuals.

You obviously haven't seen the show, because he already claims and tags his kill, just left it overnight before humping it out of the back country. Although it would bug the hell out of me leaving it overnight too. But admittedly if you think about it it makes sense, will leave less scent for the scavengers if it's unprocessed, and if left where he shot it, it will not draw any predators in to his camp at night. Leaving all the work for the next morning would be nice actually. Although if it were me I might take a big tarp and wrap up the kill before leaving it.

I haven't seen it yet, your right. It would also bug the hell out of me leaving it over night! I might also tarp it, just to keep it under cover till morning. Wouldn't want little critters nibbling on it in the night.
Will be catching up on the shows this weekend.
