So I just picked up a SocomII off the EE and oh my god is it a sweet rifle.
I have owned 4 or 5 Norincos and having drank the cool aid I had bought into the whole Norincos are better because they have a forged receiver bull.
After handling and shooting this bad boy side by side with my buddies M305 shorty I will never be able to go back to a Norinco.
But that's another thread, what I need is help deciding on an optic for the new to me Socom.
It has the extended top rail on it so I can pretty much use what ever I want on it.
I am thinking of going with either an Eotech or an Aimpoint but to be honest I have never owned or even used either so I would appreciate any advice you could give.
I have to keep this within about $500 so please keep that in mind.

I love the EOTech reticle but the battery life in the Aimpoint is hard to resist... I went with the Comp M4

Just to chime in, since you are shooting 308, watch out for those Eotech models that have batteries aligned parallel to the barrel. It may cause contact spring issues. I might be over paranoid after seeing one happening. I would vote for aimpoint all the way.

I think that the Aimpoint PRO would be "good bang for the buck" and a relative "easy on the bank account" to start out. YMMV. You can then decide without too much investment whether the Aimpoint optic is for you.Congrats on the rifle, I've heard great things about the seller you got it from. ;)
