What is your ipsc gun of choice?

Several;
S&W 625-2 for revolver
STI Truesite in .40 S&W for Standard.
STI Truesight with 9x40 top end for open
Why, because I have them and at one time or another were considered "the" kit to use.
I wouldn't buy the Truesite again- I'd rather have an Edge or a Truesite with a custom barrel that ditches the expansion chamber (Clarence, if your reading this we should do one).
I had Glock's and an M&P for Production but they were sold but I've really been thinking on the CZ 2012 Shadow...
I've also used a Para P14-45 ltd., it was a good gun, not an STI, but a good gun for the price I paid.
End of the day shoot whatever you have, a G34 will work great.
 
G34 puts you in Standard, which if you have modified the hell out of the gun, is fine, but if it's bone stock it's hurting your game.
 
Ten years ago I showed up with a thirty-five year old Browning HP in 9mm. It fits my hand, parts are available but mostly unnecessary, and 9mm reloads are easy on the wallet. Old school Bianchi nylon gear on an army surplus '64 Pattern web belt, and I looked so out of place, the guys probably would have taken up a collection.

It is not the what gets shot, but the guy pulling the trigger. If a winner marathoner wore Brand Q shoes, would you wear them if they didn't fit?
 
One-Nine-One-One.

6 years shooting, and I have had the privilege of shooting most of the handguns on the market, both common and rare, the 1911 platform just works for me.

The common advice is to shoot with and trust your life to whatever firearm you can shoot best. For me, that firearm is the 1911 platform in any configuration.

Just my .02, however useful/ useless it may be.
 
Beretta 92fs,why? Becouse bruce and mel and becouse I shoot it better then anything I own even though its too big for my tiny hands
 
I use a Glock 17 Gen 4. The only guys I see stovepipe and jam are 1911s.

I like the Glock for competition because I the 5.5lb trigger is just right for Production. Generally though I prefer the M&P, but stock pull is 6.5lb which I don't like, therefore I compete with the Glock.
 
For IPSC Production, CZ Shadow will be the most common answer. Heavy weight = recoil like a .22 magnum, 5lb DA to keep it Production but 1.5lb SA for all the rest of the shots on each stage.... major advantage over pretty much all other production guns.


The few matches I shot were done with my M&P and any future matches I get around to shooting will be with my M&P as well.

+1 Since we're being honest. There was no internet back then so we had to shoot what the action hero's used!!
 
Recently looking at getting into IPSC. These may be easy questions to answer by doing a little research but since were here:
Which class of competition generally has the most shooters?
Which class is best for a new guy (I would think production?)

and I will be interested in hearing more of the gun choices.

Oh ya, where can the most up to date list of what guns are acceptable for production class be found?

I have a Glock 17 3rd gen and am on the pre-order for an HK45 with the SA/DA set up. What class would this gun be in?
 
Glock 17 Gen4 for IPSC production because its the gun I prefer to own and shoot. I don't train anywhere near enough to be truly competitive with any gun, so I bought a brand I love that is inexpensive and goes bang every time I pull the trigger.
 
I like my CZ Shadow because it fits my small hands better then most and I like a heavier metal gun but the M&P is also nice. The best thing is to go to your local IPSC range and ask to try out some of the different guns.In Saskatchewan we have almost no one shooting standard so it's either production or open, so keep that in mind. Since you already have a gun just bring what you have to shoot and see if IPSC is your cup of tea...or not.
 
Hello folks , interesting topic , I too have tryed out g17 and a g22 and found myslef with a shadow sp01. Having had a sig226 dark elite with a srt , I wounder why they are run as much . Commented on . Suggested. The srt was fantastic. Comments , insite welcome.
 
I mainly shoot Classic now......but here is a checklist of mine and the wife's (she is in Classic division now as well as the 1911 suits smaller hands)
