I do have one other question....since this is my first 1911. I noticed that the magazine will not fully seat when empty...I have to depress the mag release to seat an empty mag. Is this normal or do I have to do an adjustment? (I will be pulling it apart to work the trigger a bit)

Mine is the same, pretty sure that is normal. Could be wrong but it feels like a solid blocking on an empty mag, pressing the mag release makes for a clean pass and seat.
 
These barrel pics showing something abnormal?? with the external finish are making me wonder a bit. Should it be construed as an issue? How many of you have taken the pistols down so that the barrel external finish could be examined like shown in some pics posted here? How prevalent is this 'abnormal' finishing? Does yours look similar or not? I'm not anticipating it to be a devastating issue or anything but I'm a 1911 noob. I'll strip mine down when they arrive to see what they look like but I'd like to see 'normal' pics to compare to. Think it might be the reason the military order was cancelled/rejected? Hard to tell exactly, but it just looks like some areas got ground down with finer grit, perhaps during a final stage prior to coating?

Back in the days of the green piece of paper registry for handguns... I had a 9mm sitting waiting for Vancouver PoPo to release permission for me to go to Lever and get the CZ75 (since sold in New Zealand) and they were sitting on it. It took "But I missed last month's competition and I'd very much like to shoot in the BCRA competition next Saturday but you won't let me have the pistol I've paid for." They pushed it through and I entered the match.

i know you like crying a lot and i don't mean to take away from your obvious source of entertainment but have you called the cfc yet to see what the hold up is?

btw: please note the sarcasm of this post :) it's all in good fun.

ok now in that case i friggen feel pretty bad for ya dude.

i called the cfc last week thursday got approved after being on hold for 20minutes and chatting for 2minutes. CanadaAmmo shipped on Friday, Canpar pickedup around 3pm Friday, delivered to my door Monday after 1pm sometime. I don't get why yours would take longer other than your order date. Then again I have a friend who just ordered his 2 weeks ago, they took money 2 days later, his transfer just started today. Mind you he only bought this package combo and CanadaAmmo is charging him over $600 including taxes.... Hopefully its just a computer doing wonky things and a human will step in and correct the price.

Transfer complete on June 7th and no word on shipping yet, so they must have a big back log of orders. I just wish I would have ordered all my other stuff seperate and I would have had the other items already. The wait continues. I had to edit this and add the order # in case Canada Ammo reads this #3958901.

My 2nd package FINALLY shipped today. Got the actual physical registration certificate for it today in the mail too. Oddly enough, it came on the same page as the registration for my FIRST 1911 package gun I got over a month ago (maybe more) AND the CZ 75 I literally just got approved last week. Seems they hold on to your registration paperwork till you get a few completed I guess.

The payment for my 3rd package was processed weeks ago now, still no word on sending in for approval. This one is pre-sold to a friend who still hasnt sent his RPAL paperwork in yet so im in absolutely ZERO rush to get it. I wouldnt mind having the ammo though. Im keeping all my 45 shooting friends supplied at the moment. Its more of a feel good enterprise than a money making one though.
 
I have asked a couple times about the sights on these guns but haven't seen a reply. Can anyone tell me if the sights are easily replaceable or are there going to be issues like the older Norinco guns.

Received a ship e-mail on my JW21B that got caught up in this 1911 spill over .. Been a slice keeping up with this thread ..

I was just over three weeks with a non CFO rifle order .. So Canada Ammo seems to be tracking at their announced pace ..

Been fun lurking and occasionally posting ... May time go quick for all waiting .. And especially MissBehaven who posted tonight .. Come on Canada Ammo ... May 3rd ?? For an in house order .. Get on that one ! .....
 
Tested the gun out yesterday with about 200-250 rounds. I used the mags that came with it and two Chip McCormick mags. I shot my 230gr reloads, Winchester factory 230gr and the Norinco ammo. Surprisingly not one failure and my Chip mags locked back. :D

But... If you've received the transfer docs, have you faxed or scanned/emailed a copy to CanAm to expedite their knowledge that the transfer papers are done?
