Hello,

I hope this is the right place to post. In the next few weeks I will be receiving my new S&W M&P 22, I'm just wondering what type of holsters people are using with them. I've tried to search through this website and have not had much luck finding anything available. If anyone could suggest anything that would be much appreciated. My research has told me that the M&P 9 holster is adequate. Can anyone comment on this from experience?

Thanks,
Wayne

From what I know, I believe the M&P 22 and M&P 9 is about the same size thus the M&P 9 holster.

How about you let me shoot the M&P 22 and I let you try my M&P 9 and holster??:dancingbanana:

That's what I use. I use the serpa holster for all my pistols... I lovem, most ppl like to hate on them.

Since posting this I've watched a couple of YouTube videos. Not sales, just guys reviewing their holsters. The Blackhawk Serpa seems to have some great features. Of course I am really new at this so I'm not sure of the downside. I was impressed with the Level 2 paddle style.

There are people who love the Serpa, however the vast majority of serious instructors won't let you use one in their courses. Right or wrong, it is argued that the draw stroke required by the Serpa Holster can cause people to develop bad habits that can result in serious, potentially life threatening, injuries. Additionally, the quality of the materials used to make the Serpa are second class, when compared to products from makers such as Blade Tech. Most Canadian shooters have no need for a retention holster, why complicate things with additional hardware that simply isn't needed. That's the "as neutral as I can be" version. On a personal level, I have owned (still do - with the latch removed) a Serpa, and it is my belief that they are absolute crap, an Uncle Mikes molded holster is, to me, a step up - FWIW. The number of 'serious' shooters you'll see using a Serpa is very small, and largely limited to those who really do need retention and really can't use a Safariland drop leg.

yes the M&P22 will fit in the M&P9 & 40 holster

Sometimes, it depends on the holster. The slide on the M&P22 is slightly wider (measured 8 thousandths wider at the top of the slide). I'd wager that pretty much any adjustable tension holster for the M&P9/40 will work, but a tightly fit custom molded holster might not.
