One sweet shootin 9mm Let me tell you .
If you havnt shot the Hi power, You don't now what your missn Guys .
By far the best shooter Ive shot .
Before I shot one round, I did take out the mag disconnect safety, Witch I believe to be the only flaw.
The action is so smooth, Its like the slide runs on bearings.
trigger is crisp, and shes deadly accurate, easy recoiling, comfortable, easy to aim, thanks to the perfect sights browning has put on .
John Browning is a genius .
I wish I would have bought this gun ages ago ...
But with all the new stuff out there, I guess now I can say, ive tryed the rest, now try the best ....
But she aint Cheap .

This is one gun that has been on my buy list since I started shooting 25 years ago, and I still have not bought one. Maybe this will be the year.

Nice to see, enjoy that new gun!!

I now own a mint "T"-series BHP that my father bought new in the mid-70's(?). It's probably seen maybe 100rnds in its life.
You're right about all the "new" stuff out there and wanting to try them...but I think I may have to dust of the BHP and give her a go!
Here's an old pic of mine. It now wears a set of Pachmayr Signature grips.

Couldn't agree more. I'm a Sig P226 shooter and would have bet a piece of my anatomy that I wasn't going to enjoy the Hi-Power prior to shooting it. Man was I wrong. Too proud to say it shoots better, but she definately holds her own. I shoot with my father regularly, and it was he who introduced me to it. also, the lineage of the gun is incredible. The impact it has had on modern firearms is arguably comparable to the 1911.

I got a T-Series (1967) some time ago and really haven't shot it enough. It's been shot a fair bit by previous owners, unlike JohNTO's pristine one above. The trigger isn't wonderful (Hi-Powers usually aren't, given the Rube Goldberg nature of the trigger system), although a little judicious stoning of the sear has improved it a bit. But the gun certainly fits the hand like a glove. I'm looking at replacing the tiny military sights with something more visible once I've become more familiar with it. They're a classic design and I'm glad I have one. (I also have a Ruger SR9 to appease the "polymer" side of my personality.)

Nice toys! Shot my way into IPSC 'A' class with a pair of HP's, one with the earlier internal extractor. Shot a lot of Inglis-made HP's in Regular Army as well.

However, pretty uncool to have all those muzzles pointing in the direction of your son at the start of the video, even with no mags and slides locked back. Even Hickok 45 gets flak from time to time when he lapses a little on gun handling safety in his videos. Just something to be aware of.

Far more impact then the 1911. The number of semi auto handguns that don't use a linkless cam is very limited, and this system is pure direct evolution of the browning system. The swinging toggle link was a dead end.

Congrats, Sweet pistol! Thanks for the vid of it
not a big fan of the wild west twirling of guns on the trigger finger though but thats just me :)

Nice video and review.

The OP probably doesn't care much for the safety comments. But, as a newbie, I certainly do. Learn a little bit every day. Thanks!

They are one of my favorites, John Browning did a great job on them. Not too many other designers have as many models still in production after all these years.

thanks for the comments guys .and thanks for watching .
as for the pistol twirlin , not proper firearm use.
I know don't try it at home .
im a professional ive been doing it since I was a kindergarden school kid with my cap guns.
I will assure you all now that the guns were not loaded, and at the time of the twerlin they were just hunks of steel .
if that scares you you should have seen me point them all directly at my eye ball to see that the barrels were in fact clear of obstructions before I shot .
On a serious note, it is not a good habit, and Im sorry if I worried anyone.

Classy!

OP nice gun, being a true bred and born Canadian I have also wanted a Hi Power for years now. Now then, let talk about a foam muffler on your mics whenever making a vid with audio outside. Sweet jeebus I can't stand the sound of wind on a mic...sounds like someone skinning live kittens!. I would have loved to watch all of your video but had to stop. Your last vid of your stolen and returned pistol...same fu<kin wind noise, I just can't handle it and I'm sure I'm not the only one. (find, make or buy a foam cover SVP)d:h:

Black Sunshine showed some class the way he accepted the safety critique. It has been my experience that if you challenge a male past puberty on his gun handling, it generally is not well received. Ask any firearms instructor!
And the gun twirling is something I missed when I first watched the video. That would be a ticket home at any Cowboy Action match (and on any supervised range), and the Cowboy single actions are much better suited for fancy gun handling like that.
We gotta remember that the antis and Big Brother monitor gun forums, and we do not want to give them any ammunition.

Congrats, Sweet pistol! Thanks for the vid of it

I'd love to try one of those man. Sweet pistol!

if your ever down round waterloo drop a line and you can shoot mine at the Colby range ;)

This thread inspired me to finally install the no bite hammer onto mine. While i was in there i also dropped in the new sear that comes with it, and replaced the mainspring with the lighter one Cylinder and Slide provide...then said what the heck and pulled the mag disconnect out as well....trigger is much nicer....now i have to wait for another burst of enthusiasm; there's lots of room to stone engagement depth on the sear, that will help take a bit of the creep out....I forgot how much i love shooting my HP, especially when it's not taking a bite out of me each shot :)
