thank for the link ,

I add some new picture , add-ind some slot in the hand guard , now the hand guard is in 2 piece and i remove some material in the hand guard ,

i think i'm close to the final design

It's strange no one has done something like this before. All the cool stuff you see available for the m14 and its a big, heavy lug like the SKS. You would think someone would have tried to make the SKS more "battle friendly" at some point. I hope the OP can either make this happen or pass the design on to someone who can. I want one.

Interesting design. But as someone has mentioned, weight might be an issue. If it turns out to be heavier than a standard wood stock then the point is lost.

Instead of designing a stock, think of it as an "exoskeleton" or frame of sorts. Use as little material as possible to keep the weight down and beef it up in key areas.

The Xm2010 or MK14 EBR come to mind.

As with those rifle, they kept the receiver exposed. All that is needed is a removable rail over top the reviver. Similar the the new top rail that has just been released. Have it so the "hand guard" rail on top can be integrated with the rail from CanadaAmmo as an option to keep your cost down so the consumer can have a choice.

But that is only my opinion.

Keep up the good work

for the weight i don't think it will be to heavy because after the machining i will probably stay 30-40% of the total weight on the original block and aluminum is very light , and with my drawing software the centre of gravity is just behind the bolt handle but not sure a 100% if it really there

How would that hold zero? The barrel flapping around inside that stock?

the sks receiver will be seated like the normal stock but in a really tight stock this will eliminate any degre of freedom it can have , and the metal sleeve that hold the assembly in normal stock will be seated in a groove , maybe i will add a clamp for the barrel but it may not necessary , for the moment it a paper prototype , need to be created and tested , after this you improve the design

That's starting to look pretty awesome! I wouldn't mind seeing a less rectangular end on the foregrip. Maybe angled at the top like the gas tube of the sks, and the ability to keep the bayonet. Give it a node to the sks look, just a thought! Lookin good.

Edit: maybe something similar to the cz scorpion evo

impossible to do for the moment my hand guard finish just over the gaz block

Nice concept, but the overlarge, rectangular forend is a bit of a turn off for me...And I'm pretty sure the full rail and top piece over the receiver is gonna make it not eject spent casings. They shoot almost straight up on both of mine, almost as bad as my 858 does.

Yeah the M14 EBR Stock is definitely something you should look for inspiration.

Now the difference is that the gas tube is on TOP instead of on the bottom but the idea is the same: To reduce the bulk, not increase it.

Currently your stock has a lot of length going over the barrel, probably more then the original stock. Leave more open barrel.
It also seems to go over the back cover over the bolt. Does your design remove the need for the cover?

no you need the cover in place

nope is not a problem i think for the case my sks have the ejection port mod and it eject straight on the side

If you really want this SKS to look like another rifle and I had to pick one it would be the original black rifle...

Gas block and has similar feel and basic action characteristics. That and plus it served our great country for over 40 years.

I think we are both on the same page.

I understand this is your project, but constructive criticism can be very helpful and beneficial.

You design is good, but the top piece over the receiver seems to be for looks, rather than function, almost an unnecessary feature. I can see problems with case ejection due to the nature of the SKS. Modifications to the receiver ejection port with be need to be done if you wish to retain it.

All you need is this for the top of the receiver.

I think some will agree with me.

But if your hell-bent on the idea, go for it.
