I was suggesed to post this in the Milsurp forum instead of the pistol forum incase you seen this thread twice.

Hello,
My dad is giving me this Vis 35 9mm pistol. My mom gave it to him as a birthday present some time in the 1970's
I did as much googleing research as possible and learned a great deal about them, the different qualities, but still lots I don't know. It looks like it may be pre WWII? doesnt seem to have any Nazi markings on it. It does have some markings on the Trigger guard area that I dont understand.
It has a name stamped or engraved on it "Rudi Klaus". perhaps it was someones personal gun?
also not that I would sell it but any idea of value?

I dont yet have my restricted license so unfortunatly i dont have it in my hands
any information anyone can share or comments are appreciated, thanks for looking.

They are good quality pistols made in Poland in the 30's then produced under German control following the occupation. Yours doesn't look to have any WaA's on it so probably pre war. The German marked ones seem to bring higher prices like everything else Nazi marked. The monogram detracts from value probably by 25 to 30% unless you found out that Rudi Klaus was Herman Goering's barber.
Just looking on line and there are two Radoms for sale in Canada on one site, Collectors Source. Both are German production(marked WaA77), one is early war production in good shape with original holster $1595. The other is late war, crudely machined in rough shape $895. So yours being Polish production(better finish but less desirable to collectors) with the monogram, I'm guessing $550-$700 for a value. Others may disagree, it is best to get a number of estimates, knock of the lowest and highest and take an average of the rest.

Or Santa's brother...haha. Sorry, had to.

I definately want to pick up one of these some day!

its hard to tell but it looks like the german markings might have been rubbed off. the condition of it doesn't really look like the other pre-war guns I have seen.

You do have very unique (strange-odd) nazi occupation Vis pistol, looks to me like tool room gun , personal pistol of some German who was working in the factory?
Odd serial number , no factory maker stamps "eagle 77" on pistol (and all had them) ,the slide has no patent number, strange rough finish for the time of production.
In my opinion you do have very rare nazi Vis 35, something collectors are always looking for .

Remember "Kelly's Heroes"?

Those weren't 1911's the Americans were carrying! ;)

*Not to mention all the other anachronistic firearms they used in that film (Americans with Mosin Snipers, Belgian BARs, etc)*

thanks for all the great replys!

I love the idea that it could be Goering's barber. I googled his name Rudi, Rudolf, Rudolph etc. so its not likely anyone too important.

Inho, it's Ben crudely scrubbed and refinished. Probably when someone added their name to it.

About $500 is my estimate.

Nobody is playing collectors source prices for vis pistolas;)

I also think it has most likely been scrubbed, although detailed photos in natural light with no flash would help.

It's an nteresting piece. It may have some limited collectors interest in Canada, although there are few dedicated Vis collectors here. A nice example is usually under $1000, unless it's a true pre-war Polish eagle example.

There's a new book on Radom collecting by William J. York titled VIS Radom: A Study and Photographic Album of Poland's Finest Pistol. I bought this book recently and although I haven't fully read it yet, it appears to be quite informative.

I do wonder why the slide has two waffenamt's missing? (pefix M slide should also have P35p stamp) The two waffenampt's were stamped deep .
I also do not observe any signs of scrubbing or polishing, all edges are sharp and grain on the finish on surface looks factory made,odd....

In my opinion the rollstamp is too shallow. Anyone can make the finish look "factory" on these by draw-filing the slide flats with a mill file wrapped in 120grit.

I still vote for refinished.

Hi Mark and Claven,

I think this one may require an in hand inpspection to really determine if it's been refinished/scrubbed or has a chance of being original, unless we get much better pictures.

Just too tough of a call to make based on what I can see... Something definitely looks odd to me regarding some of the bluing...
