was surprised to see the S&W M&P .22lr on the restricted list.

Is the Walther/Umarex colt m4 and Uzi rifle .22lr available in Canada?

I don't know about the Uzi, but the M4 is available and is restricted as an AR variant.

If you want something that kinda looks like an AR and non-restricted you'll have to settle for the Mossberg, Ruger, etc...that basically are shells covering semi auto. 22s. If you want something more realistic you are into variant territory and thus restricted. Sucks, but that's the law.

The Umarex Colt M4 and Colt 1911 are available in Canada, both restricted. The Uzi and MP5 are prohibited. Not sure about the HK 416s.

The HK 416's are restricted (I've got one). It's easily the nicest .22LR I have...just too bad about the restricted status.

Not surprising. True, it's just a .22 rimfire, but it's a SCARY-lookin' .22 rimfire, which makes it waaaaay more lethal than a non-scary-looking .22 rimfire.
