Norinco 1911 failure to extract

My friend purchased a Norinco from Canada Ammo... Brought it to the range and the gun wouldn't extract any brass. Anybody have this gun and experience the same problem??? He has shot the gun approx. 100 rounds now and every round you have to rack the slide and sometimes that don't even release the brass?

So the gun will extract the brass when you rack the slide by hand? Or....are you punching out each spent piece of brass with a rod from the muzzle end?.....Maybe both?

These guns have been sitting for a very long time, the cosmo is like glue or at least was on my pistol. It was very sticky so I scrubbed every part of the gun with a toothbrush and a good Penetrating oil, I like AeroKroil. I did this twice to the slide and then took brake cleaner to it and made sure that all the little pieces like the firing pin, extractor move freely and that nothing remained from the Cosmo.

After my first initial 100 rounds I lapped the slide to frame with Blue Magic polish. After racking the slide 60 times you could feel the roughness disappear, I went 100 racks then cleaned the gun again.

If you rack the slide back to the locked position, look inside to the right, does the extractor look beat up, are there sharp edges? If you load a full magazine, make sure the ammo is at the back of the magazine, then point muzzle down range, rack by hand, fully pull back let slide go to chamber a round, when you rack again does it eject the round? Can you empty the magazine by hand racking and does it eject each time? If you load just one round and fire, what happens, does the slide lock back with the brass still in the chamber?

If you can rack by hand and it ejects but will not eject when firing then I would be looking towards the extractor am maybe disassembling it and lapping it to the slide and or checking the spring.

Are you using the Norc ammo?

Lots of questions.............the more info you provide, the better the diagnosis will be to get to the problem. Good Luck :)
