A local dealer just got a few Ruger revolvers which are in mint condition. Problem is I think his prices are out to lunch, For example a Super Blackhawk "long frame" in 44mag for $2000, A Single Six for $800. Maybe I'm cheap but I don't think a Blackhawk has the same value as a Python but I know just don't buy them . If however you are interested PM me and I'll give you the contact info for the dealer. TC

Yep, Dan usually runs to his online pricing guide whenever I bring something in to sell. His prices on used are often way outta whack. Every now and then he gets it right though. I don't know how he came up with the pricing on those Rugers though, maybe I'm missing something.

Eli's? Yeah I kinda chuckled when I saw those prices.

There is a real problem for the dealer when they price there product way to high. First they lose respect from the buying public as there customers think that you are trying to cheat them so a lot of them don't return. Also the other problem is they must have taking this used gun on trade from someone and they sure as heck never gave the guy anywhere near what they are asking for it so they pi$$ that guy off when he see's what they are asking for his old gun and he never comes back.

A friend of mine traded a dealer that shall go unamed,a gun. The dealer convinced him that it would only sell for $600.00 to $650.00 so all he allowed him was $500.00 trade in value as he explained to my friend that he had to make money or he could not do the deal. My friend was ok with that. My friend was very disapointed when he say the gun on the dealers site listed for $1000.00 He has since bought at least 10 guns and has not even so much as asked the dealer for a quote and almost everything he bought before that came from that store.

A lot depends on model, calibre, extras and condition etc. A couple I have, 1st an old Flattop in 44 Mag that, for extras, has a set of factory Ruger staghorn grips.

The 2nd, is an old single six with a flat loading gate and in mint condition.

JP's guns posted above have some significan't collector value. Up to the level of what the OP's guy is asking? Hard to say. The Single Six if it's something like this flat gate model maybe. But the Blackhawk had better be gold plated AND artfully engraved! ! ! ! ! ! !

Maybe he's priced it according to the Ruger stock price. Since the stock price has doubled in the last 2 years to $48.23, he figures he can ask 2x more for it.

To be in the price range of $2000.oo, for me,;) I'd have to have documented proof with it that it had been one of Bill Rugers personal firearms:).

Funny thing is he had a 6" S&W 29-3 a few weeks ago for a reasonable $800.00 I was going to trade my 29-2 (8 3/8") for it but it was gone. TC

PS: the big "O"? You must be from Otterville :D

$2000 is the price I am trying to sell my DE44 (100rounds count), that price for a Blackhawk even brand new :0)

Is there perhaps antique/collector value to these guns?

I know Dan pretty well, he's a great guy.
His prices can be higher than some, but the customer service has always been fantastic.
