ISSC MK22 or SR22? Help me make up my mind! (update: went with the SR22)

Sorry been busy with the flood in Calgary the past few days.

My MK22 is solid and I only use bulk CCI or Federal at this time. I love it, definitely not a simple gun to strip down but it wasnt as hard as people make it out to be either. I think some of the problem is that people get used to really simple breakdown designs. This was my first rifle that I knew I would have to put some extra work into and I was a little worried about that until I got it and broke it down to clean it. Congrats with your new SR22, Im sure you will love it. But if you thinking about buying a MK22 dont hesitate about it.

Ruger 10/22 in a Troy Industries T-22 chassis. It's about a pound lighter then the SR22, also comes with sights. I got this as a package and it cost about the same as the SR22 (minus the bipod). Take a look at how much Troy BUIS cost and you'll know which is a better deal.

Very nice... I think I prefer that to the SR-22. As much as I like the "customizability" of an AR, the look doesn't really do it for me. I much prefer the barrel shroud and top rail on this. Getting it for about the same price as the SR-22 seems like a good price too... I took a quick look online, and the Troy chassis alone is about as much as the 10/22. Shame it doesn't come with a folding stock though...

To the OP: Good on ya for getting the SR... Did you order it online, or pick it up in store? I've been checking the local shops recently, and they've all been out of any variant of the 10/22 for (apparently) the past six months. The longer I wait, the more I want one...

They came form Hical but I think there is a huge waiting list now.

It came from a small shop in Trail BC, I actually found it on the EE unfired and BNIB, someone bought it and changed there mind. Before that I had been calling around and looking online for months and couldn't find anything. Occasionally I would get the "sorry we don't, we actually just sold the last one yesterday" but most of the time I was told it could be a year before they come in. I haven't shot it yet but im super happy with the way it feels, mounted a scope on it yesterday and today ill be doing the auto bolt release mod.

Then I just have to find some ammo for it. SFRC has 525 packs of the CCI blazer for around $23 which is the best price I have found but I haven't checked how much shipping is.

They are pretty fair price wise but shipping ammo isnt cheap. Most likely looking at $20 or more depending on how many boxes you order.

Sr22 is a hunk of sh!t ... its just an overpriced 10/22

So youv had one? Or youv had both and decided the MK22 is better? Or more likely youv had neither and have no idea what your talking about? Im guessing youv never had a 10/22 either...because if you did youd know there one of the best semi auto .22s. Maybe the SR22 is over priced but definitely not sh!t...same goes for any of the other black rifles. You tend to pay extra for the tacticool black stuff.

I really like my SR22. I was in the same position you were. I wanted something that wasn't available so I looked at alternatives. I kept coming back to the fact that this would be a compromise. I looked at a couple of the kits to mod the 10/22, nothing was quite the same. Metal parts and a heavy barrel profile were stand outs here. I am glad I held out for the SR22. I picked it up on the EE and it was a local deal, quick and no shipping costs.

I have had it out several times, my kids shoot it, my buddies shoot it, everybody likes it. I have added a Magpul AFG2, ACS-L, ASAP sling adaptor and a Volquartsen bolt buffer. I have switched from a variable power optic and a red dot, still undecided here... This rifle is like big boy Lego! I did put blue thread locker on hardware along the top rail and pistol grip.

Great choice, you will be glad you waited!

Kids shot a 1100 rounds today.
4 FTF, second time shooting same bullet they fired.
4 cases bounced back into the action.
Other than that, kids just would not put the mag in right, gun would not chamber a round.

Yes I actually owned one. ( SR22 ) and it sucked... So I dropped a couples of bills into it... And it still was sh!t.

Why you are comparing this to a black riffle is beyond me... Its the last thing from a black riffle...

10/22 in a Hogue stock with a B/B outshouts a SR22 any day for the same price....

Here is a pic of it...

Seems strange to me I had a 1022 years ago and sold it like an idiot it was flawless. Recently bought a 1022 and did ArchAngel 556 upgrade and a 10" barrel and I must say it works just fine had a couple of FTFs from bad ammo but is accurate and fun.

Would have preferred the SR22 metal stock but am on a budget either way it's still a 1022 under the aluminum or poly.

Maybe you got a bad one as me and my buddys all love our 1022s.

Anyways all feedback helps us.
