How accurate for crows?

I have a T3 in 223 and is an awesome crow hunter. I shoot crows at up to 200m easily with this rifle. I find it shoots about .75 moa. Consider the size of a crow in my question. I am thinking of getting an accurate 223 in a semi action. I don't know what rifle to get yet but I am looking at XCR, MR1, and SL8 platforms for their accuracy. My questions are what would the acceptable accuracy be for you for 200m crow shots 1moa? 2moa? etc. Next question What semi 223 would you use for these shots?

Thanks
Moe

I switched out my BDL crow/gopher gun for an MR1 comfortech.

Shoots 40grn Vmax really good. Cold bore about 3/4" high, then a nice MOA group below it. (Have 2 MR1's, both do the same thing)

Shoot yellow box Norc good
Fed 64grn good

Going to try wolf tonight or tomorro with my new MARK AR scope.

Shoots Fed Premium Barnes really bad, also AE AR15 really bad. White wallywinchester fmj not great either, haven't tried HP yet.

Removed the rear sight & mounted the scope with Leupold PRW low matte rings.

LAR mags work great (grey&orange follower), so do AA beowolf's, Pmags are a little tight and have to be pulled out. Haven't tried the PCV mags yet.

Hope that helps for MR1 info, haven't tried the others.....yet

Shooting crows at 200yards is just for sh*ts and giggles, doing it with a semiauto is just for sh*ts and giggles. Maybe you'd be happy with a Ruger mini14 if it's just for sh*ts and giggles.

Thanks Drillbit. Nice info. Im not sure what your point is Mount Sweetness. I am not looking to shoot crows for sh*ts and giggles or doing it with a semi for sh*ts and giggles. I am certain that a mini 14 couldn't shoot accurate enough for 100m shots on crows let alone 200m so I'm just not sure what your suggesting. I am looking for a semi so I can get a second shot off. I shoot them at an area that the rangers drop off the road kill and is swarming with crows all the time. I know I could get more than one if I could get a second shot quickly out of a semi. That is all.

Drillbit do you reload? I reload and am interested in what your favorite load is for your MR1. Thanks for the evaluation on the mags too. I have an AR15 with about 20 mags including 4 lars and 4 Beowulf but for the low prone on bipod shooting for crows I would be using 5rd or Lar mags .

Reckon your fine with the bolt gun u have now. Instead of spending money on another semi that wont matc the accuracy of your t3, why not get a reloading press and a good scope with a 1/4" target dot and fine crosshair. Made for crows. Keep powe in the 5-15 range.

I'd suggest a new Browning s/a Shortrax. It's what I'm shooting for in a venison getter in a little heavier cal than for crows! Email Clay at Prophet Rivers. He'll do you right! Top/right/middle a way up ^.

I bought the MR1 so I wouldn't have to reload for rifles as much. Just buying crates for now.

Tried out the Wolf 55grn today and it was a little better than the Norc. Just over moa, norc is about 1.5. Sometime the norc will print a really good group though. Only tried one Mr1 today, I'm sure the other one will have similar results as they are identical with other ammo.

Hornady Vmax 40 for varmints, Wolf for plinking, and Fed 64grn blue box for bigger stuff is what I've found best so far with same POI @100.

Had an orange follower LAR problem today. Only mag one out of several. Would ramp the cartridge up and jam the bullet right into the case. Would only do it with one round left in the mag?

Happy to help with a review

cath8r I do reload and the T3 has a 4-16-56 on it now. I realize the accuracy of a semi will not match that of a bolt but am looking for something that I think would be accurate enough for crows at 200m. Are you telling me that a semi can't do that? If so noted and I thank you for your honesty.

two-dogs thank you for your suggestion on the Browning. They don't quite fit the under .23 cal restriction of New Brunswick however.

Drillbit Thanks again for the info. If your getting groups like that I can imagine what hand loads would do.

200 meters for crows...not really a challenge with any decent bolt action.
I busted literally hundreds of crows with a couple of Ruger 77, tang safety
heavy barrels in 220 Swift.

On a calm day, no crow within 450 meters was safe.
It was pure rapture, watching one blow up in a cloud of feathers way out there. :)

Crows do get smart...after pounding at them in one area for a while, they would not
perch anywhere within dependable "hit" range.

Regards, Eagleye.

The thing with crows is one shot sends them flying and outta here. Dont see how a less accurate semi really serves any purpose for crows. Had you said semi auto shotgun for pass shooting them when they aernt landingn the fields, them im all in.
