OK so, I need/want a leather holster for P226

And for some reason the internet took me to GALCO holsters.
I am hoping that someone can give a little input about them. I have not seen anything else that polymer holsters at the range, and I have one that I like for my MP9 which came with the gun, but I want a leather holster for my p226, I am trying to preserve the finish on it as much as I can...
I will be doing some IDPA, so if you think I should stick with polymer please give me your 2 cents.
Tell me about pampering objects.
 
I use a Galco Avenger with my P226 and I highly recommend it. No finish wear and great draw. Once I tried quality leather I sold off all the polymer and kydex I had as they have no 'soul'...

I couldn't resist and bought an Avenger. I would've given the Alessis a try but they were a little bit over my budget.

I haven't tried the Avenger so I can't tell you what one I'd like better, but like I said I've been very happy with my Alessi for the last 13 years or so. Still in great shape and works like a charm. As for you initial comment about pampering your gun, I treat mine nice as I can but if your doing practical shooting I find that you have to expect some wear and tear on your equipment, after all it's supposed to be practical shooting, not benchrest.
 
Agreed. I will expect some wear for sure, but I am sure the leather will help to slow the process down a bit.

The Avenger will serve you well. You'll need to break it in - The holster will benefit from a couple days holding your pistol surrounded by a freezer bag - should give you just the right fit.
 
I have one, not sure on the brand, I will post a pic tmrw if I have time.

You can have it if you want it. I got it as part of an estate sale I bought up with a few guns.

The 1992 German p226 that was inside the holster.....I'm keeping that!

Thanks, I ordered the BREAK EZ (or whatever the name is) along with the holster. Just because someone else recommended it (and it was 10 bucks). I am not sure whether it was a good move or not... I hope it is not a rip off.

lol! how many doors and locks do you have to go through in order to get to Disney Land for adults you have there?
