How would they not be? Look at the barrel length

As for the FDE Tavors that NS has announced we will be getting a member here I PM with quite often got the chance to grab one(hopefully a second for me to go with black one) and it didn't come with side rail attached. Is that something that is new with the latest batches or possibly an oversight?

Just as a follow up. The owner of the FDE Tavor contacted the selling dealer and the missing rail was an oversight. A rail is being shipped.

I'm up for a X95

But I'm missing something - what does FDE mean - is that just the color scheme?

And while I'm asking questions, sounds like that US Version of the Tavor is 'one-up' on ours - am I reading that right?

Yes, FDE is the colour scheme (flat dark earth). I wouldn't say the US version is better, since it's restricted. Most of the receiver components aren't compatible, either.

Yep - thanks Blaxsun

I just quickly searched it out - as I seemed to remember a fellow CGNer 'unveiled' the FDR Tavor a little while ago.

I not too worried about the Restricted tag (I'm not a hunter) - I was more thinking of the lighter trigger.

Was there any other differences?

Sorry for the delay Blaxsun - I keep jumping back to the first page of this thread comparing photos ...

Holy - it's a totally different animal then! Kinda like a Big Mac that contains a single piece of lettuce - the same, yet somehow different ...

I just did a quick check on Irunguns website - nothing to see there, but I gotta tell ya I'm reeeeal interested in the US version.

I think I've got a handle on most of this - the only Tavor that eludes me is the CTAR (?) What's the deal with that?

Clearly the Tavor is a new subject with me ...

TV could give you the specifics, as he's had a chance to physically compare both - but yeah, the US version is quite different than the Canadian one in some respects.

CTAR is basically the TAR with a shorter barrel. The way it's meant to be. :D

Yeah - I just noticed that on the first page ...

You know - it's just occured to me that the TAR's we see here may (quite likely) be the better / closer to the original, rifle.

Anyways, I'm thinking the CTAR in FDE - a nice companion to my SAN CQB! (Although that X95 has the shorter barrel - ah, decisions, decisions ....)

No question - the Canadian ones are better since they come straight from IWI in Israel. X95 could be a while yet...

Decision made then!

Ya gotta love the stuff we get right from the source - CZ's / SAN / Benelli's ...

Coincidentally Jon at NS brought up the subject of the X95 when we were exchanging messages a few days ago (I was inquiring about IWI 5.56 ammo). Maybe we won't have long to wait after all.

If you mean this:

Thats the X95 with a new (very cool) fore-end

I feel like that could be Billy Mays selling the tavor to canadians in a unaired infomercial.

I can just imagine him yelling into that camera because we never heard of a volume button screaming "FOR JUST 39 EASY PAYMENTS OF $75 YOU CAN HAVE NOT JUST ONE, BUT ONE AND A FREE BOX OF AMMO! ORDER NOW AND GET A SECOND ONE FREE! AND WE'LL EVEN THROW IN A FREE PAIR OF DEER ANTLERS"
