Investing in Black Rifles... is it still a good idea?

I think that number might be overly generous. 50,000-ish minus the thousand or so Swiss Arms is probably a bit more realistic. The Government has been pissing people off since C-17, and we really haven't seen much of a change with real firearms legislation reform. And so they piss us off: what's our recourse, vote NDP?

50,000 ish AR's in the whole country?? That number sux!
If another 2 million or so people bought AR's the Gov't would not be so fast to push us around :)

We all need to buy more, or get another safe and fill er up!

You can't predict tomorrow, and can only know about today. If you want to get into black rifles do so, get your friends to join you as well. The more the merrier ;).

Yes buying guns is always a good idea... If you ever have thoughts to the contrary there is something terribly wrong like possibly malnutrition, sleep deprivation or some kind of mental illness if such thoughts persist... Get help.

So lets say in the future they did confiscate the AR, hypothetically speaking. Technically you could strip it down and hand over just the bare lower receiver and say shag it to them if they wanted the rest of the parts.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe. From what people have told me, you didn't have that option in the 90's when the first wave of confiscations and seizures happened. May depend on the current political climate at the time, too.

I've talked to plenty that went through the confiscations in the 90's that tried this and were told in no uncertain terms that if they didn't go and get the rest of the parts there would be a warrant served to locate them, and likely charges laid.

Unreal! Total Police State tactics used on those in shock and disbelief of what was happening.....Used on the Law Abiding Citizen! :(

Dont buy into that crap. I use to have a closet full of "now prohibited" rifle and hand guns. Then the government scare tactics started....bill C-68. We are gonna take your guns , they cried. i fell for it and sold off my military collection, and lost my Prohibited Status. They Didnt take the guns, they didnt bust down doors, no one went to jail. It was all Bull crap!! and alot of folks fell for it. I'm not selling a darn thing this time around!! In fact..If you want Prohibited status..BUY SOME !!
They use to sell the FN 308 semi auto for $168 bucks at Northern Rifle and pawn on river street.I was there the day the "name with held" Indian Band bought case loads of these.."cheap hunting rifles"It filled the van they were driving !! Remember,..there was NO rifle regestration at the time,..the goverment and police had NO idea who had them,..but I'll say one thing...pis off the wrong reserve here, and you'll find out in short order who still has them.

T97s and M1As are non restricted, ergo, no registration. Harder to take what you can't find.

-S.

Do you seriously think that will stop a future government from prohibiting them if they want to? Because you'd be a fool to think so. The AR's restricted status and the reason for it only being Restricted instead of prohibited is what protects it. It won't go unless all semis go.

Exactly, if you go to a range a lot I suggest getting an AR of some type, if you actually go shooting out in the middle of no where getting a non-restricted makes sense first as a priority...

Yes but the problem with the AR platform is many people build there own from stripped lowers. So they would have to prove the parts existed in the first place in order to make those kinds of threats.
