I own a Savage hog hunter .223rem, comes with the threaded barrel. So, I'm looking to see if anyone knows where to pick up a screw on muzzle break that isnt worth more than the gun? thanks

Do you know the thread size? If it's the same as a AR-15 the sky is the limit, there are bunch of low priced flash hiders and muzzle breaks, try Dlask for Canadian made or Brownells for a wide selection.

its a 5/8-24 threading. i've tried looking in the past but hard to find something thats in Canada and less than $250. i'll check out those 2 places you suggested

there aint no real reasoning behind it. its not for accuracy, reduce the little recoil thats there...basically only doing it because it has the threading for one.

The reason for a brake on a .223 is not because the recoil is too heavy that it hurts. It's on there because it completley eliminates muzzle rise, meaning you can spot shots perfectly (great for watching gophers blow up.) And in competition where you have 8 target lanes, no muzzle rise makes it so you don't get confused and shot the wrong target during the rapids or snaps.

Some sound reasoning there. I shot one of Bushmaster's Sniper rifles in a semi 223 with a brake a few weeks ago and you never lost sight of the target for even a micro second. It was pretty cool.

Gary Eakin from Bighorn sales has a bunch of brakes in stock right now. I just bought one for my 338 Lapua. He has lots of options, look him up. He's a site sponsor and a hell of a guy to deal with.
