Interresting caliber, this long weekend will permit buying another rifle, i could try a 257 Whty and i have 150 once fired cases from the club... JP.

I killed an elk, a mountain goat, a pronghorn , and over a dozen deer with the 257wby. It's certainly not my idea of the perfect elk cartridge, but it is about ideal for deer sized game.
If I was going to get another 257WBY, Prophet River has a stainless Cooper Jackson Hunter in stock, that I would be buying.

Got a nice wood stocked Vanguard early last year. First three test shots were so close together I initially thought I missed completely with two of em! Unfortunately I haven't been able to do that again since but it does shoot nice and tight. Shot a decent 5x5 whitetail at 100 yards with it, not exactly taking full advantage of the long range potential there but it did a beautiful through and through pulping everything in it's path. Deer dropped within 15 yards of the hit. I will be experimenting with sturdier bullets this summer though, the 100 gr Sierra Game King fragmented pretty badly at that velocity. ( not that it mattered to the deer, just don't like cutting lead out of the meat)

I paid $38 for 20 new Norma brass the other day. Only stuff I could find.

Reasonable price as far as my shopping has determined. I bought 50 rounds Norma brass for $90. Probably the biggest shortcoming for this rifle are the ammo prices. Well worth it for that low recoil fireball though. Watch out for grass fires on those prone shots!

It's made by bell and Carlson but they saved weight by leaving out the aluminum bedding block. That stock cracked behind the recoil lug and the 257 doesn't have heavy recoil by any means.

Also had the medalist on my 300wby and didn't like it.
