Don't be mistaken, I'm a big aficionado of the .360 Wagner (used to be known as the 9.3x62) and I'm well aware of it's ability to punch above it's weight class, but it's not something that one should willingly use it as their only rifle against hippo or when wading in among elephant cows. Undisturbed elephant bulls are a completely different proposition and are relatively easy to get near and accurately shoot. The vitals are huge and easily reached with a 286gr solid. With hippos the vitals are much smaller and you have to deal with an animal that, when out of water, Is extremely agitated and ill-tempered. Not the place for a marginal rifle. But I'd take the 9.3 over a sharp stick any day!
