I'm curious as to what is supposed to happen this week regarding the Swissarms, are the RCMP going to come to a decision regarding its status or was June 30 just a deadline to get information to them to 'assist' them in deciding??

I believe the 30th was the deadline for them to get "proof" to "assist" our glorious police overlords.

I'm pretty sure that now, the waiting game begins.

OMG someone please close and lock this thread. These threads cause more harm than good. Really. Nothing new will come this week. Be patient, when new info becomes available it will be made public. It should be at least 2-3 weeks before we know more. Chill

That's very useful info. I can shoot my Swissarms till then, kind of like walking your dog a few more times before going to the vet to put them down.

What is worse.... Put down (turn the whole gun in?) Or neutered (just send the receiver)

I'm curious if a famae receiver would work on a Swiss Arms rifle.

From another thread:

I would suggest that in case of a Swiss Arms prohibition that you please view the following parts interchangeability from the Swiss Arms "Classic" platform to the 540 for current Swiss Arms owners;
  • Lower receiver
  • barrels
  • gas systems
  • furniture
  • mags
  • BCG and bolt
  • aftermarket parts from third party companies
  • anything else I've overlooked due to unfamiliarity of the platform
That should help folks salvage what they can from their property should it become prohibited.

Ok people - let's BE POSITIVE!

We're all gonna keep our SAN's, and that's it.

We've kicked up a fuss, they know we're pissed, they know they don't have the money to do something stupid, they know that if they do something stupid, the issue will not be confined to just the firearms community.

Chill, pray to your God, get drunk - whatever - it's now time to wait for it.

After the clusterf**k going on in High River. I suspect they won't make a move to prohibit them for a fair while, before doing it. They will wait til the sh*tstorm subsides and the masses have forgotten. If they are going to keep status quo, I suspect that announcement will happen soon as to placate some of the fire headed their way.

Does it REALLY need to be put down in writing in here for folks to understand that the ONLY thing they should be sending to the RCMP, if and when it comes to that, is only an empty receiver??

Ahem!!! Don't forget the steaming turd in the receiver before you hand it over.

I don't know why anyone would turn over something non restricted. "I sold it" would be my answer. If they ask you who you sold it to, you can say "I'll have to check my records and get back to you in 4-6 weeks" and then if they pester you, say "I'm sorry, I've been on vacation so the office was short staffed. We're now looking at a backlog of 1-2 years. Please be patient"
