THIS IS NOT A JOKE I just had a private, person to person transfer approved in less than 48hrs, I have to say I am speechless. I initiated the transfer last Monday afternoon and it was approved Wednesday morning, looks like somebody in the CFO's office is actually doing their job. I was expecting 4-6 weeks.

Anyways thought I share this, Andrew.

I am sure the CFO bosses will get that person reigned in and you will be back to the normal 4-6 weeks. Performance and Gov't don't seem to mix! :p

Bottom line still hasn't changed. Given computer systems and all of the information they have at their finger tips about each and every one of us, there is absolutely no good reason, valid cause, or reasonable excuse a transfer should take more than a few minutes. Period. Transfers take as long as they do because that is the way the architects and guardians of the system want it to be; not because of any necessity.

Great! At this rate maybe it'll someday be like a free country, where the seller says "here's the pistol" and the buyer says "here's the money".
Done.

Impressive, given the Ontario CFO's extremely poor turn-around time & service. 48 hrs should be the maximum limit on turn-around time. A performance audit is long past due - not that you really need one, even for a 2 week turn-around time. 4-6 weeks is a certain "you're fired" no-brainier. You'd think Chris Wyatt had something pretty serious hanging over the heads of his masters.

I just got confirmation in the mail today on a restricted transfer from myself to another family member both of us in Ontario and it took 7 days. That included a Jul 01 holiday weekend and a letter mailed from the CFO's office.
I just about tipped over when I opened the mail........ (my last transfer was 6 weeks)

I paid for a 1911 (private sale) on Friday. Buyer and seller are in Ontario. Today,a round 1:00 I was given the transfer reference number.

I called the feds and completed the deal. Around 3:00 my fax machine hummed and I got the buyers notice, the sellers notice and a ATT to go pick it up. At 5:00 I had it home.

The staff at the CFO are just as nice and competent as the wonderful ladies in Miramachi. A few nice words and some politeness goes a long way to get outstanding service.

Same here, I'm always very nice and friendly with them, I never give them a hard time, after all it's the CFO himself that I have a problem with, not the people that work there.

What's a "fax machine"? Laugh2

Now, see, that's what I don't get. I have always been very polite and friendly...well, except for one incident a number of years ago and even then, that was with the CFC, not the CFO.

At the time, when buying a non restricted at Epps, I was asked the usual annoying questions about who I was etc. And then, when my non Canadian place of birth came up, all of a sudden I had to answer a number of questions about immigration status, ports of entry, dates and so on. I blew my stack and lost it, but not on the person on the other end, as she was polite and just doing her job: (hey...I had no idea that typing a "b" and then a colon would give the scared smiley)...I asked for a supervisor and let fly because I didn't appreciate being treated like a "trouble -making immigrant".

Anyhow, I guess they just don't like me!

For everyone's interest, it just so happens that that I ordered a pistol from a dealer on this site THIS MORNING.
To my shock, I got the shipping notification THIS AFTERNOON.

Can hardly believe it. From six weeks wait to same day.

I am guessing that just maybe the CFO's highly paid gravy job may be on the line, and therefore has suddenly found a way to type a lot faster!
