I agree with Mo.
I can't wait to go. I like East and people are fantastic. Hope to see familiar faces, and shoot awesome match.

Yup, the usual don't you dare criticize the match comment. If I had the range I'd love to put on a match to prove the naysayers wrong. But I don't, so I try to suggest how to fix the problems.

That's easy to fix the 2015 Nationals are up for grabs ,I will supply you a range to host the Match ,ill even throw in free room and board for the 3 months you will need to accomplish the task. I will not pay you for your missed personal life ,work time lost or lost practise time to shoot the match and I will go on this form to defend the work you are doing from the A holes that have nothing better to do but criticize the work you as a volunteer are doing to promote our sport.
And while I am on here if you do not want to attend the match keep your negative comments to yourself ,the 300 competitors that are going must think the match is worth attending and I am sure they will not miss you

So, when are we going to see shooting and work schedule? It is only few weeks left til the match

Not speaking for this match, but speaking as someone who has done the scheduling for a lot of large matches: expect the shoot/work list to be available at registration/checkin.

The number of last minute changes is such that publishing the list early causes more problems for the match directors than it fixes for the competitors. It's easy to rearrange a schedule that has not yet been published. Once it's out, it takes a HUGE amount of effort to switch people around.

As an example, for the IPSC Alberta provincials that ended two days ago, I created the first squad list on June 12th, but had 9 revisions after that due to competitor's changes. That's not 9 out of 161 registered shooters, that's 9 entire sets of changes to the squad schedule.

I'd recommend everyone simply plan at being at the range every day all day. Once you get to Dalhousie if it turns out you don't need to be at the range for a half day... it's simply bonus time.

Seriously? Listen, if you step up to hold a national match you better be willing to except the fact that we(the shooters) are expecting it to not be a #### show. If that's too much to ask then maybe you shouldn't have got the match in the first place. How is pointing out a long running flaw and giving options on how to fix it negative?

With the hundreds of ranges clammouring to host the Nationals, it's shocking that these events aren't perfect every year. Each range should submit a thorough proposal covering every aspect of the match to this forum for unanimous approval before ANY National Championship be awarded to any range. With the fame and fortune befalling those groups lucky enough to be awarded this event, I'm sure this additional trivial requirement will add nothing to the workload.

Thank you for your response, BUT I am asking about this particular match. In my recollection, for the last 4 years Nationals we had competitor list, squad schedule and worker's list posted in advance. It is not a rocked science, especially for the match that had been sold out for several months now.

This one actually going to be much worse... There are no hotels in near proximity to the range and I already been advised that MD can't accommodate all squadding requests. So, my 3 carpooling buddies might be all shooting at different times and we all magically need to be at the range for our squads.

So much for it not being a shjt show:-( nobody holds a gun to anyone's head to hold nationals, if nobody in that years area is capable of doing it right then let another area do it rather than have it mailed in by a club that really wasn't ready or capable.

Does it have to be perfect? No, shjt happens. But every effort should be used to try and make it perfect. I don't care how great the stage props look, if you have an activating target that can't be calibrated properly or targets that are not the right size then you put the effort into the wrong area. I would rather shoot a great stage that looks like it was made from dumpster pickings then a crappy one that looks nice. This is a shooting competition, Not a set building one.

I agree that
It is not a rocked science
(that would be geology). However I see in this very forum, Madness complaining (on July 27th) that he wasn't happy with the squadding in Brandon last year. Curious that he wouldn't have known that farther in advance since you claim the squadding was out so much earlier.

I admit I do not remember exactly when the squadding was posted, but I would be very suprised if ANY nationals ever posted it 4 weeks in advance (which is where we are today).

Sure, cuz everyone else takes 3months leave from their job and moves to the other side of the country to set up a level 3,give me a break. What is it with md's not being able to get called on their bs these days? Yes it's a thankless job, I know fist hand but when I did something wrong and got called on it I learned from the mistake. I didn't get butt hurt and demonize anybody that pointed out the errors

how is anything a #### show? Am I mistaken....?Are you complaining about a match that has not even started? How do you infer that they are not capable?

lets talk about how this match was sold out months ago; I wonder why?!! Because they are a bunch of good people, putting on a good match.

Mo, that can't be an excuse to not to care about your competitors.

your out of line.....I was talking to the match organizers. They are working on the schedule, and everything they have been doing over the last 6-8momths has been about the stages, the range, prize table, getting sponsors, meal, gift bags...etc...about you, the competitor. They may actually read the threadif they have time. You should think about your words before making assinine comments with no merit.

Mo, that can't be an excuse to not to care about your competitors.

when u get to Dalhousie, mention to the folks there about how they don't care about competitors....i am sure that will go down well.

I would suggest a moderator start a new thread and move the few individuals comments who are #####ing and moaning about how to run a Nationals. There they could give thier expert advise on what to do in the future Nationals. For the time being or until there is an actual problem, this thread should be about info on the 2013 nationals. If you don't like the way it is coming together than feel free not to shoot the match but give it a break guys and stop complaining.

PH... we get it you don't like the way nationals are run and are not shooting them this year etc, etc
Euxx....somebody will get you too and from the range (give me your number and I or someone will help) stop being the are we there yet kid :)
Madness....Relax and give the guys a chance before throwing them under the bus (there will be a bus stage)

This is making me want to shoot cowboy action :) hungrybeagle will appreciate this.

Not keeping your competitors informed is equivalent to not caring. I will be sure to mention that to the MD when I see him in person.
