So, after seeing a mention of them in another thread, I decided it's worth taking a look at these mags offered by Alberta Tactical Rifle Supply. http://www.albertatacticalrifle.com/ar15.html Scroll down about halfway to find them. $28 each.

I ordered 4, because that will probably minimize the chances of getting the one bad one out of the batch, and to give me a few extra if everyone goes crazy and backorders these for the next two years. It was only when they arrived that I realized I'm without a functional AR at the moment, and my LTATT may or may not still be listing some other dude's house as the origin and destination point so it's not like I can take it anywhere anyways... so I can't give these a range test. If someone with an AR wants to meet me at Phoenix range after work some time I can let you try these mags.

My initial appeal is that I abhor pinned magazines. The magazines were not intended to be used with a rivet in them, and the guns were not intended to have riveted mags inserted into them. My Daniel Defense lower is all scratched up from rivets and I hate it. However, LAR mags feel a bit short for me, and using a coupler to join two together is not quite what I am looking for.

Seeing as how I can't give these a real test, all I can do is sit here slowly baking to death in this heat wave, and hope that both the polymer mags and myself survive to shoot another day.

The quality of the finish on the magazine is smoother than on the pmag M3, with less rough grippy texture. There's no obnoxious flashing or other mold/tool marks. The baseplate is thicker and wider than normal, and gives a good grip.

All in all, I think these were a good buy so far.

For a size and appearance comparison, on the left is a Pmag M3, in the center is the AT-15 pistol magazine produced by CAA - Command Arms, and on the right is an LAR-15 pistol magazine.

Click for higher quality.

I have 2 and put a combined total of about 500 rounds out of the both of them and they have worked flawlessly. Can insert them with the bolt closed easily on my DD and they are blocked nicely as there is still about 1/3 of a cartridge worth of give to the spring after the 10th round is inserted.

You DD is not scratched, it has "patina".

I got over 6000 round thru' my one lower and I mostly use 5rnd mags, the wear from normal use mag changes is quite more prominent then rivet chaffing.

Now that I look at it, there is very little wear from the rivets. Mind you, I "fit" my mags, filing and countersinking as need before use, and my lower is Canadian made and seems to have some extra channels cut in the well for rivet relief.

In other news, I am very happy to see a prominent Canadian mfg stepping up and finally getting us a better "LAR" mag.
I ought to order a couple of these sometime, but I have plenty enough mags atm.

I've been using them for a couple weeks now and they've been great. No issue whatsoever.

Get them full of mud? Give 'em a quick rinse, blow them dry with the air compressor and you're ready to go.

I'm suprise they still have some out of the 1,000 they received on their 1st order.

I bought three of them and they work just fine in my 1990's Eagle Arms AR. They will not lock in place on my crappy Oly arms though, but I blame that on the rifle, not the mags. I haven't looked closely as to why yet. I'll just use my ancient blocked Adventure Line mags in that one.

Auggie D.

I have some issues with my STAG lower and the TROY ambi release, I may have to do a wee bit of trimming? anyone else running a ambi release?

I received three of them tonight. I'm also having troubles with my Stag lower (factory release). They will not lock in on a closed bolt and when the bolt closes, it knocks the mag right out of the magwell.

Same here? the P-mag works great with the TROY ambi release?
When I inserted the mag, I can see the bolt release move? is that the same for you?
More to follow

Check the back of the mag to see if the bolt is marring the polymer there. I modded mine to make inserting on a closed bolt easier.
On the left is an untouched AT-15 pistol mag, the one on the right has been filed to fit better.

So it looks like you took material off both sides?

Yep I just squared up the opening allowing the bolt to fit easier into the slot. I found on my Tavor this helped more than on my DD MK18. It's like the difference between the gen2 and gen3 pmags. It functioned fine for me without the mod but I could see where the bolt was rubbing the mag and figured I would remedy it.
