I am looking at some crates of 7.62x39 surplus, namely the 1200 round chech laquered on strippers made in the 1990's from Canada Ammo for $224.99 shipped! The next contestant is from Tradex the 1320 round Bulgarian crate copper washed no stripper clips and no date of manufacture that I can see for $249.00 shipped! The canam deal comes out to 18.7 cents a round and Tradex is 18.9!!! So wadayathink I like the copper washed but I really like the 1990's manufacture and stripper clips!

I believe that the Czech ammo tops Bulgarian. I have ordered 4 crates of the Czech ammo and it shoots well. Russian, Chinese it all goes down the pipe :)

Czech is excellent ammo and you can not beat the price Henry has. About the only surplus that tops it is Chinese which is - rather ironically - the most accurate of all the countries.

AND if you decide to buy from Canada Ammo,,be prepared to wait,,,, A LONG TIME,,,they're quick to take your money,,but VERY slow to ship out,,,and forget trying to get them on the phone OR email,,,all go un-answered,,too bad too,,,i'm still waiting for my stripper clipped ammo too,,,but i doubt i will ever buy from them again...and they had some nice firearms i wanted to buy,,,,it seems Henry is the guy to buy these from,,,Marstar and Tradex a usually excellent to deal with and WILL answer your emails and the phone,,LOL..Canada Ammo wont be getting any more of my money,,,,i really wanted to try this Czek stuff,,and jumped the gun,,,but having Marstar and Tradex within 45 minutes drive,,i really should have know better,,,LOL...being busy is one thing,,but there really is no excuse for lousy customer service,,,it doesnt take that long to fill in a shipping slip...

And really, who would have thought that the Chinese could make accurate ammo and sell it for so cheap :)

I understand the frustration with some who had dealings lately with canam but they did well with my orders so far and I have lots of 7.62,just wanted the newer stuff with strippers for later use, seem like most guys agree that this Czech ammo is good and the price is very good! Thanks for the input guys,,order placed.

there is NO excuse for BAD customer service,,,period,,,not in this economy anyways,,,and i'm pretty sure there are retailing laws that say you cant charge a customer for a product and not send out in a normal time delay...

Thi sis a bit off topic, but a guy at the range was firing his SKS and green cases were ejecting - what are those? I was going to ask him but got caught up in my own thing and he left by the time I remembered. I'm into my 3rd surplus crate of 7.62x39, each one was different, but none had green cases.

I have seen green and grey laquered and copper washed surplus, even diff shades of these colors!

I have a crate of Romanian which has green lacquered steel cases. I believe the Russian surplus also had green cases.
That said, I have another crate of Romanian with the same headstamp (code/year)...which is all Brass cased (Berdan primed of course).
Both also have the red sealent around the bullet / primer and use extruded powder.
All of the Czech ammo I have is in the grey lacquer case with no sealant, and uses a ball powder.

On another note, has anyone run some of these different types of surplus through a chrono ?
It would be interesting to see how they compare..

Great prices and free shipping, trump questionable service, IMO.
And I don't mind if my money is taken first.
I really ain't gonna miss the pennys of interest I'd be collecting on it!

They sure are colorful little buggers, I think John's group at marstar said they cronoed most different types and they come out reasonably equal some dirtier than others!

If you want same day shipping,, just ask for it, I'm sure for a few extra bucks they will purolate it for you. Being busy filling ammo orders is not poor customer service,, it's keep prices low through volume

I have found this as well, the copper washed Chinese ammo has been excellent for me. As a bonus, it doesn't gunk up the chamber like the lacquered Czech ammo does.

Some of my Czech ammo has been a greenish-gray colour, but not a true green.

It isn't the shipping time that is the problem, it is the 3+ weeks they take to process the order and get it to the shipping company that is the issue.
