Picked up my first AR today, Norinco 10.5, ill post a pic later, was a tough call between the 10.5 and 14.5 and im still undecided so I think I might need a second AR soon....

anyways I have a question for anyone with a norinco, did your safety selector ever get easier to move? mine seems to require maximum force with your thumb to change from safe to semi and the other way,

I haven't dissembled and cleaned it yet I just got it a few hours ago, just was the first odd thing I noticed.:D

Not with mine. I actually had to tighten mine, screw was loose and selector was binding against receiver. I see your from the bay, only two places there to shoot. What club you with?

when I changed the pistol grip on mine I tightened the bolt holding it on. This made the selector tight. Loosened it off and it was fine

I find with my DD MK18 the selector switch was tight until a little but of use. Don't worry, one range trip will fix it. Enjoy!

My Norinco was the same.
Now is this happening to both of you guys when the rifle is cocked/ready to fire or just any time

You are only able to engage the safety after the rifle is cocked/ready to fire. That's how it is designed to function on the AR 15 platform.

No. Unloaded, empty, uncocked.

Please be gentle, I am a AR virgin...

Thanks for the help!
no worries, no just like pistol-whips was sayin, you cannot engage safety unless rifle is cocked/ready to fire. My question is are you trying to engage safety when un cocked/not ready to fire. If so that would make it stiff like a mother phucker and may damage something by doing so. (possible damage to selector switch or detent spring)

The other issue to be aware of with the 10.5" is stove-piping rounds. I found out the hard way-at a three gun shoot. Called Wolverine, got an upgraded extractor for it, and the problem is solved.

Thanks for the reply I'll have to take a look inside

, I shoot at the rockcut club!

No Sh** im from North Bay! I live out in Alberta now.

yea as for you problem I have both the 14.5 and 10.5 norcs and the selector switch was the same on both of them. take the upper off (easier to handle) and hold upside down. take the grip off and on the right side of the grip is where the selector spring will be. it may or may not fall out. take it out and becareful that the selector pin doesn't fall out. cut the spring a couple coils off and pull the spring apart alittle bit with pliers. reinstall, put the grip back on, don't screw the grip in and try the selector switch to make sure its to your liking. if the selector switch flops around either you cut WAY to much off or your springs isn't pulled enough, pull it apart again and try'er again.

I did this to both and over 1500 rounds later both are still goin strong.

The op's manual that came with mine has 2006 on the bottom of the front cover? Is that dating the gun or the manual????

The manual, if it's the one with the flying saucers on it, is from 2006 - it's a classic of ChinGlish (or Englinese, if you prefer) Literature, all manuals should be written that way - don't forget to "enjoy a better annihilating firepower".
