From Nova Scotia? Halifax Army/navy aka Ron's has a new shipment of $150 Mosins!

Here's a picture from their facebook page, I don't think it's a pic they took, but hey, eye candy.

Where do most of the folks in the HRM go to shoot their guns?
I've been looking at quite a few clubs, but they're all like an hour away and the initial membership costs bleed your wallet badly.

I'm afraid I'm no authority on rifle bores...mine looks fine to me. Some scratches on the stock/patina on the sling slots and a small chip out of the wood the size of a baby's fingernail, that's about it.

@ Rallix, for indoor .22 rife (and handgun if you shoot it. I do not), I go to Captain Kidd's Rod and Gun in East Chester...$60 to join with a single orientation class.

For bigger bore/outdoor, I go to the Chester grant DNR range...by appointment only, and it's free. You must have app't (and PAL), they do sometimes pop in.

Much appreciated Frosty, looks like my restricted won't be wasted afterall.

Can't wait to see if my local shop will have a good price on their shipment because they don't want to tell me yet ....sigh....

My guess is that they know EXACTLY what their cost is, they are waiting to see what the market will bear: what is everyone ELSE getting away with, lol?

Yes, it's a "free market", blah blah blah - and as a former business owner myself, I understand that it's about more than just keeping the lights on.

And so, they will charge whatever they can, I guess, and we will pay it. Or not. Long live capitalism!

My OP was, really, just a shout out to a LGS who still believes in fair trade.

Good luck, and here's hoping you get a good 75-year-old rifle for a fair price!

Which, to ME, is still $150.

;-)

My son just picked one up in Halifax. Hexagonal receiver and the barrel is Ishevsk marked with a 1926 manufacturing date. Nice gun. The end of the barrel looks very chrome like to me rather than just worn gun metal coloured. Were these chrome lined between the wars?

I picked up a 1922, stock has lots of varnish knocked off and some dents and bangs, and from muzzle to 6 " back the bore is lightly pitted matching #'s. Not bad but no box or Russian books just a pig sticker and an oil can all wrapped in a black plastic garbage bag! I think she will shoot well, I have to check closer but it does not look refurbed although I am sure it was at some time! I like the hex receiver so its worth $150 to me.
