When I go to the page you listed my anti-virus blows a gasket.

Everyone is out of stock on most things related to reloading in the US now so Midway being out of certain bullets is not surprising.

From Hornady:
A Word on Availability
The current political climate has caused extremely high demand on all shooting industry products, including ours. Empty retail shelves, long backorders, and exaggerated price increases on online auction sites – all fueled by rumors and conjecture – have amplified concerns about the availability of ammunition and firearms-related items.

If the information you hear doesn’t originate from Hornady Manufacturing, don’t believe it.

Here are some of rumors we’ve heard, and questions we’ve received:

Have you stopped production, or has the government forced you to stop?
Not at all.
Did you stop selling bullets so you could only make loaded ammunition?
Absolutely not.
Since we can’t find your product you must be selling it all to the government.
Nope, less than 5% of our sales are to government entities.
Why can’t you make more? Ramp up production? Turn on all the machines?
We’ve been steadily growing our production for a long time, especially the last five years. We’ve added presses, lathes, CNC equipment, people and space. Many popular items are produced 24 hours a day. Several hundred Hornady employees work overtime every week to produce as much as safely possible. If there is any question about that – please take a tour of the factory. You’ll be amazed at what you see.
We are producing as much as we can; much more than last year, which was a lot more than the year before, etc. No one wants to ship more during this time than we do.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience. We don’t know when the situation will improve, so please bear with us a little longer. And remember, when it comes to Hornady Manufacturing, if you don’t hear it from us, please don’t believe it.

wtf? 162/178 A-Max ? its good to know its BS, as I love the A-Max stuff. Although i will say, you'd think its all been discontinued if you go to the new Cabela's in winnipeg! I couldnt even get a pound of Varget there! 90% of the bullets i shoot are unavailable. They lost a customer in me lately, im all for Wholesale Sports now, at least i can get most of what i need there!

Like everyone else ... Right? .. And when their shelves are empty .. Who will be your new Hero ? Laugh2

Edit: You folks who are lucky enough to be served by a location od Cabellas and not just on-line like me , may overlook their " In store pick-up ". Order from warehouse on line ( confirmed stock ) and pick it up at the local location .. No dependance on a poor performing ammo clerk .. I jested the poster above in fun , but he may be aware of some local employee failing to deliver, and that has set him on the ovoidence course .. From an online aspect both Wholesale and Cabellas seen to be battling the supply chain .. One presumes they have standing orders for items and that is why they get anything .. otherwise US retailers would be getting it all. Check what a brick of .22lr sells for in the States .. Some places CCI mini mag 100 rounds $59.99 ..

I had a buddy pick up 10x50 round CCI Velositor units in Halifax the other day for $8.00 each and some of the dealers who support this sight have mini mags on for sub $7.00 per 100. In some ways we are still sheltered from the crunch ...

"...Midway is showing..." Wouldn't use them as an indication of anything. Midway is the Crappy Tire of the reloading world.

Fyi I just got off the phone with Hornady sales department and they CONFIRMED that the document is true and they are indeed suspending production of said items. Call them yourself if you don't believe me.

Product Availability Update

Hornady Makes Plans to Increase Production Volume

For over half a year, Hornady Manufacturing, along with the rest of the shooting sports industry, has experienced an unbelievable spike in demand. This dramatic increase in demand is unprecedented. As stated earlier this year in our Product Availability FAQ we have been continuously growing for a number of years; adding people, equipment and manufacturing space as rapidly as we can. We are producing and shipping product at record levels and are continually looking to grow and improve our ability to fulfill orders. But the current state of the industry is such that our increase in shipments this year is overshadowed by a 200% increase in demand.

One area that we have identified that will enable us to increase production, is the minimization of machinery downtime. The largest period of downtime our machines experience is during change over and retooling to convert a machine from manufacturing one bullet or cartridge to another. Under normal market conditions, we can keep the supply chain full by making popular items on a regular basis and keeping specialty or less-used products on a seasonal basis. However, with demand at record levels, it has become difficult to justify shutting down a machine to change it over to produce a product of less demand. Therefore, we are temporarily suspending some items in order to focus our efforts on the most popular and highest demand products and ship more total product.

We realize that many of the suspended items are going to disappoint some of our customers. We have painstakingly reviewed our order status and order history and unfortunately had to make some tough decisions. It wasn't easy, but we know that we will do a better job of servicing the industry as a whole by focusing on the items of highest demand.

We are not alone; this is effectively already happening throughout our industry, but is accomplished through selective manufacture with no notification to the industry. We are simply making every effort to be up-front about our plans to maximize production.

Again, this is only temporary. This is not a permanent suspension. We will continue to push as hard as we can to meet the demand of our industry and will produce our full catalog of items as soon as we can. Please know that nobody wants to produce more and get our product to into your hands more than we do.

And lastly, we feel compelled to address some of the conspiracy theories that we have seen posted. NO, this is not a conspiracy effort to shape the industry, nor is it controlled by the government. We are simply being forthright about our manufacturing plans and our efforts to supply MORE product to the very hungry shooting sports industry.

We truly appreciate your patience during this period of time. Thank you for your understanding.
