6.5 Jap to 6.5 Swedish??

Thanks, Joce !
Had her out after work today. Ran a box of 50 gr PPU ammo through her(and I don't know why it's a "her " !). Not bad, but not a tack driver. Considering it hasn't been fired in who knows how long, it was on paper first shot at 100 yards. Going to try some 55 gr ammo next. Definitely happy that I picked her up for only $100 ! Giving her a thorough cleaning tonight!
BTW anybody able to give me a year of production from the serial number ?

"...Is the Arisaka action strong enough?..." Arisaka's were proven to be the strongest actions of W.W. II. However, the 6.5 dates from before the war. If the rifle is in decent condition, it may be too valuable to screw around with. Anyway, I suspect the chamber area would be too short. The 6.5 Swede is 2.165" long vs the 1.984" for the Jap.

Did some research, and found that my rifle (action at least) was made at the Koishikawa arsenal in Tokyo. They made the Type 38 from 1906 to 1935. I'm guessing mine was produced in the early to mid '20s by the serial number.

UPDATE ! My Arisaka 22-250 REALLY likes the lighter bullets ! The rifling is a slow twist (about 1:14 or so). I tried the Winchester 45gr JHPs in it. The first 2 shots were touching on the bull at 100 yards. Then, I got nervous and was off the first 2 by about an inch . This rifle is definitely a keeper !(Although, for the right price....).
