There have been other threads asking for the Best rifle (VALUE) in under $600 before.

What about the next tier of quality rifles without getting into custom refits or hand loads.

In my case for target use only..up to 300 meters

What cartridge? I just bought a 700 LTR for $875 brand new in box. A heavy flutted barrel and a HS precision stock is quite the value for the money, considering buying a new HS stock alone is $500+.
 
Savage 110 with Accutrigger and Accustock. Think my 308 of the same model was $615 and it shoots very very well- .5-1MOA if I do my part
 
looks like the cz varmint has a 1-9 twist which won't be good for bullets heavier than 70gn. If you wan't to shoot the 70-90gn pills I would consider a savage 12 VLP DBM as seen below;

I had a remington sps in 223 with 1-9 and it was awesome for the 55 gn noslers but wouldn't shoot 77 gn bergers at all.

I should have said the range that I would work at would be up to 300M but mostly 100-200M
 
CZ Varmint. I have the Varmint Kevlar and it is awesome. Shoots tight groups with a variety of ammo and bullet weights. Quality is top notch. I don't think you could go wrong with a CZ ever.

What was the price ? Does the Kevlar make a difference? What Scope did you use and at what distance.
 
I have the laminate, and I think the only difference between the laminate and the kevlar is the weight and how much one cares about it getting a scratch... lol I have a zeiss 6.5-20 mildot, and shot a ground squirrel (the little guys about the size of a tree squirrel, not the bug 15 inch tall guy) at 356 yards according to my friend's rangefinder. All I could see was his head poking out of the hole... The zeiss glass is hard to beat. The detail at long distances is just amazing, and the low light capabilities are incredible. At dusk at 100 yards, I was looking with naked eyes in the direction of a cattle feeder, and I could only see a dark area where the cattle spilled the feed around the feeder. Could not see the feeder. Through the scope, I could make the feeder out well enough that I could have made a shot.
I got it from plain sight solutions. Don't regret spending that cash for a scope after using it. Bought 2 more for me since, and my friend asked for one in an order I was placing to split shipping. Great guy to deal with, and I did all the deals over text message. My friend is really happy with his scope....
 
I would be hard to beat for a thousand a 223 FN Hernstal, just a superior rifle, trigger adjustable to 2 pounds, 20 MOA rail, Hogue overmold, aluminium bedded, fluted barrel, 1 in 9 twist... JP.

I have heard some good reports about those Scopes but isin't it around $800.00 ?

Remington sps tactical. Heavy barrel. 1:9 twist great for anything from 55 gr FMJ up to 70gr hp hunting rds... it's also comes in a threaded 16.5" barrel model, if you like muzzle devices.
