1911 so many options.... Help!

So ok I've narrowed my .45 1911 options down to this:
sig 1911 nightmare
sig 1911
kimber stainless 2
ruger sr 1911

But i need some help, I'm really only looking at buying one .45 and I have pretty small hands so the 1911 fits nice. I'm opened to other suggestions as well.
 
Sig 1911s are sweet, got me a Target model and fit and finish are awesome. The Nightmare is a beauty and I'd like to add one to my collection! That being said, if you plan on shooting these at matches, it's tricky finding a holster that will fit them due to slide design.

Can't go wrong with Kimber stuff.

If $$ was a concern, I have no issues buying a SR1911, in fact I do want to own one. Lots of extra $$ left over for ammo. :)
 
My hands aren't the biggest not super small but I love the SIG Tac ops 1911 Tac pac. It's a good deal and a super sweet gun. With the grips it has on it they are relatively thin and feel nice and grippy in my hand. Real nail driver to shoot. Way more accurate than I can shoot it lol. Also come with a holster that fits.
 
Only ONE 1911 !!! ... it is to laugh ....dream on, bro. Whatcha really mean is you are only gonna buy ONE at a time ... Trust me, this is the way it works.
Not long ago, there was one 1911 in the stable - a Series '70 Gold Cup. Then I re-audited the Black Badge course and my wife took it as well. Now I have three and my wife has two.

Who knows where this will end .... ? We need a support group ....

You will start with JUST ONE, then one day you'll be looking in your gun safe and your JUST ONE 1911 will look so lonely you'll get another one. Or two. Or three.

My vote is for sig. IMO, the finish on the ruger looks like sheit, and kimber's are just overpriced for what you get.
I went with the sig tac-ops traditional 1911(pic below) and added some VZ grips.
I'm not huge on the square top slide, and this way I get the traditionally shaped slide making holster shipping a breeze.
Either way, you can't go wrong with the sig. Great quality, for a pretty good price.

I'm with him. I recently decided on a S&W E-series tactical pistol. I looked at the exact same guns as you did. The smith and Wesson ran me a little under $1500 but seemed like it was worth the little extra cost. It's pretty with the checkered wood grips and dragon scale slide serrations but also tactical/practical with a rail for lights/ lasers and tritium sights. It also fits my blade tech holster that I bought for my norinco 1911 perfectly.

It shoots well and the quality is impressive. The sigs were a close second but I'm happy with this gun.
 
Are you buying a 1911 to shoot or show off? Are you competing in a form that requires PERFECT accuracy?

If your buying a gun to shoot and dont need the worlds tightest groups the SR-1911 is a perfectly fine gun... better than most even close to its price range. But, its still just an SR-1911 and not too many people who know what they are looking at are going to be impressed by it (though people who DONT know what they are looking at will be VERY impressed).

My first 1911 was the Can-am norinco deal. I wasnt sure I was going to like 1911's but figured, for the money, why not. I found I REALLY like 1911's and wanted something a bit nicer to carry around the range. I found a lightly used SR-1911 for $625 shipped. Does it compare to my buddies $1500-2000 1911's. Not in terms of PERFECT fit and finish... but for how we shoot, it shoots every bit as good. One day, when money is not a concern at all, I WILL own a super high end 1911... but for now, when buying ammo is as much a concern as buying the gun itself, the SR-1911 is more than enough for me.

Yah, I saw that deal on the sr from canadaammo, that's why its on my list. I don't like giving my money to canadaammo, just a personal issue I have with them concerning their behavior, which I won't get into here.

Sorry if that came out wrong, i didnt mean to suggest the Norc... I was just relaying my first experience with a 1911 and how I felt the SR-1911 was a step up. I was actually reccomending the SR if your looking for a great gun to shoot and not worried about having the coolest 1911 at the table.

Did you look at the STI's ?
 
I was in your shoes back in December. Held many, tried a few - the brand names on your list plus Norinco, Colt and S&W. I dunno.

Then one day I happened to fondle a Remington R1. Certainly not the most refined, but felt pretty good. So I bought. Have not regretted - it is a pretty sturdy piece.

 
I've got two R1's and my wife just bought herself one. Both of mine are tight-slide-to-frame. Hopefully, my wife's will be the same, as we were told by the seller. After I got the triggers improved, I really love 'em. My 'smith told me he was prepared NOT to like them, but after working on mine, has changed his mind to the point where HE wants one.

A Dlask adjustable trigger, large mag release and ambi turned one into an 'enhanced' model, the other will remain stock for SASS 'Wild Bunch', as will my wife's. For IPSC she bought an AMT Hardballer off the EE.

X2 on the remington r1 definately a great shooter, love mine and would highly recommend one. But the sig nightmare is sweet too. cheers
