Morning shooters ( Insert Colby Donaldson voice)

Im in the market for a stable front platform for distance bench rest shooting. Ive been looking at the Remple pod vs the Mystic Precision Bi pod. Both seem to attract great reviews online, however there is a significant price jump to the Remple product and Im not sure if that jump is worth it. Can anyone chime in here with some first hand experience of either product or other suggestions?

Cheers!

I would take a serious look at the star shooter bypods
I have one and us it in competion and do all my load development with it very stable and adjustable check out their web site

I just started using a Sinclair 3rd Gen. They sell for $250 USD and it seems pretty good. Huge improvement in ease of shooting over using a Harris.

you are near the homestead see if you can go to a match and see the bipods in use, that will help you make up your mind that day,

as I just told someone who was looking to buy a used Rempel just go to his house and buy one they are the same price as a used one and NO SHIPPING, a bargain, (he was looking for a remple as I did not tell him to buy that one brand)

all mentioned above are quite good, buy one of each, and take out a loan

I would start adding up the weight of your rig if you're considering Ftr. The Remple tends to be on the heavier side and might put you over the 8.25kg limit. I'm pushing the very limit on my new rig with a Dolphin Trakker which I'm considering.

I don't compete but I will be ordering an MPOD when I get home. Jerry's design is only one of two that I am aware of that has the design I am after.

The Mpod and Henry's bipod are 2 different beasts.

If you want a rock solid, easily adjustable on the fly bipod and weight is not an issue then get a Remple. It is copied world wide for a reason.

If you are trying to make weight in FTR class then Jerry's Mpod is for you.

If all goes as planned, shooters from up to 6 international F TR Teams will be using the MPOD at the US Nationals and Worlds this August.

The Remple is the most copied F TR skipod in the world. Henry came up with a great albeit heavy design. It works and works very well. A few quirky bits and pieces but when assembled properly, very stable.

Something to consider about all those clones of the Remple Pod, compromises have been made to get the weight down. In materials and/or construction. Some just aren't making many fans with their users and with the trend to heavier 30cal bullets, these shortcomings are becoming very obvious.

This Aug will see approx. 425 F shooters from around the world trying all manner of tech and ideas to put them on the podium. It will be a great time to see and share ideas both new and established.

Whatever your decision, get something, get out there and have fun putting lead downrange.

enjoy...

Well said Jerry - each shooter has to prioritize their equipment and determine what compromises they make in order to make weight in FTR. The barrel, the scope and the bipod are the primary weight components and one of the three usually takes the hit - for me it's the barrel and I use 26.5", so I can run a NF scope and a Rempel bipod.

Sort of a reflection of being so close to Henry here in Alberta, but seeing a dozen rifles on the line at the same time, both FO and FTR, using a Rempel is a positive endorsement of the product. Once you get further out from Alberta and closer to the other manufacturers, you do see more variation due to cost, weight and availability.

Many very good ones out there, but IMHO, the Remple is still the leader for a number of reasons........
x10. if you want the best, buy a remple. if you are willing to make do, lots to choose from. some are even close to the same price if you feel spending a large sum of money automatically gets you the best.
buy once, cry once, lee.

Look up an EVO bipod in the UK. They are a Rempel copy on a diet. I just ordered four for me and three others in Winnipeg. No tax, no duty and they were here delivered to door in 10 days after shipping date. Worked out to $375.00 each.

Could not make the Remple work due to weight. If I could I would have one in a minute.

IMO the Rempel is the very best. I continue to like the Dolphin Trakker and that would get my vote for the lighter weight class ( still not as light as Jerry's MPOD though which, depending on your set-up, may be the only choice )

remple, retail price is much less than you could build it for, don't wait for a sale. buy direct from Henry.

As usual it comes down to weight, 8.25kg to be exact. The heaviest workable barrel for FTR is normally a heavy Palma. If you think a sewer pipe will shoot better then you need to find weight elsewhere. You need to be able to adjust either the front up and down or the rear. The Remple, Star Shooter or EVO are cool or you can put an adjuster in the rear and use a fixed bipod like a Sinclair. Start with a scale and see what you have left, it's easy to add weight, mix some epoxy with #9 but it is a real bugger to loose it. Plan to go as light as possible and hopefully you will be under and can pick any bipod you like.

Stralia, there is a team Canada practice at Homestead next weekend. Both typed of bipods will be out there if you wanted to look at both.

Wheelgun, did you get a break on price or shipping due to the quantity? When I do the conversion one comes out to $420 CDN, that's without VAT and plus shipping.
