Is it just me or is finding a retailer with all the parts damn well near impossible?

I am looking for a short optic mount to be put on the receiver and a shell deflector, along with the CSA muzzle brake (or any other equally working one) a fore grip that doubles as a bipod and a lower handguard to mount it on.

One retailer has the rail, but doesn't have the mount that goes on the receiver. Another retailer has the mount but not the rail. If in theory I can find all these parts from different retailers we're talking 13+ shipping rates.

Zahal so far seems the best option to get all in one but the optic mounting stuff is out of stock, they appear to be a little marked up with prices too along with the fact I would probably be slapped with tariffs and other fee's

Is there another way or should I go and cry in a corner?

We will have dust cover scope mounts back in stock mid week, they just cleared customs last week and our on the way to our shop. Shipping is within Canada and we can send it to you 2 day express. As far the CSA brake or better know Czech Army New Model Brake. If you buy hand guard system and dust cover mount from us just remind us and we will added it for you no charge. We have one or two hanging around the shop

This is the link to the Front Hand guard system we sale

Checked SFRC, Wolverines, Canada Ammo, Wanstalls Corwin Arms and I'm pretty sure a few more places.

Thanks for the offer Corwin, at this point I'm just trying to keep costs low on things I don't quite need to have awesome quality on. The hand guard is amazing but over my budget. The dust cover is a consideration if its so good at holding zero, but the alternative is also cheaper to mount on the side of the receiver as my gun does not require any gunsmith work to do so.

I don't want to be a party pooper, but optics on an 858 should really be mounted on a solidly screwed and tapped side mount on the metal receiver. All these dust cover, hand guard, blah, blah, really don't hold zero consistently well. I've tried them all and the best I've installed yet is my side mount.

Yes it needs gunsmithing, yes it needs to be taken down before you can take the dust cover off, but really it's worth it, otherwise don't even bother with any of the other gadgets. I've shot well over 800 rounds with a trs25 and g33 eotech magnifier on it and it rocks, really pushes that 7.62 down range.

Please see the video of CZ 858 in slow motion. Please notice the receiver flex during the shots it is considerable

This is the reason Czechoslovak Army never developed any side mounts for VZ 58, they were either get loose under military trials or were affecting gun harmonics.

The only side rail used by Czechoslovak Army was night scope rail but ti was only attached half way to the receiver and half way to the butt stock in order to minimize the portion of the rail touching the receiver

In 1997 Now new Slovak Army wanted to upgrade their VZ 58s they developed top rails that attached to the back of the receiver where butt stock goes and connected to the rear sight. This project resulted in complete fiasco, the arrangement failed on 3 points

1. It interfere with ejecting cases resulting in 1 out of 79 cases being stuck between the rail and the bolt
2. The rails were cracking and braking from the flex of the rifle during firing average failure rate was every 1000 shots
3. If heavier rail was used it affected gun harmonics decreasing accuracy and causing rifle going out of battery the receiver flex is calculated into movement of the bolt

New Czech Army Trails in mid 2000s tested different optic mounting possibilities for VZ 58

Side rails were quickly discarded due to the fact that they were severely affected by receiver flexing during firing

In 2005 and Czech Army decided to try several different designs of top cover mounts.

1. Original dust cover mount was not good enough too much movement

Two other competing designs proved to be reliable enough to get Military approval

Antoni Zendl Mount and Jan Sladky Mount

Dust cover mounts proved to be the least affected by receiver flex, will hold zero within 5 cm after being taken of for cleaning and do not affect gun harmonics during shooting

All this information was taken from the article by Engineer Antoni Zendl Chief armorer and designer at Ceska Zbrojovka in 1980s nowadays one of most renown expert on current Czech firearm designs

Well that's pretty damn informative.. thank you for that, how hard is it to find such mounts in Canada anyway?

LOL, have you really tried all the different ways to mount optics cuz my several dustcover rails hold zero perfect every single time just sayin

same here, have had 3 of my vz rifles with dust cover mounts, purchased from zahal, and they're all doing well.
