“secure locking device” means a device
(a) that can only be opened or released by the use of an electronic, magnetic or mechanical key or by setting the device in accordance with an alphabetical or numerical combination.
The FA specifically describes a device that renders the firearm inoperable.
It's also covered in my instructors binder from the CSSA for the handgun safety courses.
So yes I'd say they are fine.

I point I meant to get to was it's not up to the CFO, it's stated in the FA.
I'll add one thing here when people ask between an SA revolver and a SA/DA revolver. They are pretty apples and oranges in operation so...

hhmmm thats a tough choice! i always wanted a reason to bust out the big hat and spurs. solving the case pretending im #### tracey also sounds fun! i guess i will buy both!
any more info on the locking device? im not sure i like the sounds of it?

I have several, mostly older, .357, including S&W Model 19 and a Colt .357 (pre-Trooper). The one modern I have is a 4.2" 686. I love it. The balance on the Model 19 is more natural, but the 686 tames full magnum loads nicely. Can't lose either way!

I have found a SW 686 Canadian edition 4.2 brand new for $900 free shipping. what do i need to know about this and what is with the locking device? what frame is it and what style grips would i need? wood with the gold medallion are just spectacular!

I own a Smithy and lo and behold...the one pain in the rear happened. I lost one of tiny little cylinder pins. It popped out. Luckily I had already stocked up on those drill bit sizes recommended a year ago and custom fit one.
Never had that issue with a SA Vaquero, Blackhawk or Uberti's. Can't speak about the SP/GP's as I do not know much about them other than firing one a year ago. The only thing with the blackhawk (I found) was that in being used to a Vaquero and then my Uberti's, I found that my thumb ran against the rear sight all the time when cycling. I also did not care too much for the holster scraping from the front sight. Minor...but I ended up trading it off pretty quickly. I now own strictly Uberti SA's in 38/357.

First of all don't worry avout the lock you never need to use it When you transport it you can use a trigger lock so you never need to worry about losing the key. The gun is an L frame and you will need L Frame round Butt grips.

I think they all shipped with black rubber grips. That's what mine has...
