Ok so this got handed to me last year at lake simcoe near beaverton by a fellow beach goer. It came out of a few feet of water. Im pretty sure I know what it is but can some one help me out a bit. Any ideas. And no I dont have the rest of it. There was also found in the same area a "jolly jumper" 50 aa mount, and some bren parts.







 
Looks to me like someone had some illegal firearms and took them apart and chucked them in the lake. Get a medal detector and find the rest of the stuff. Something to do at the lake. No sense spending your summer checking out the hot women and inviting them over for a hot tub party and using the medal detector to find hiden piercings. Either way your going to score with metal detector.

Thanks guys. I was at a beach and due to my haircut someone knew what i do for a living and gave me the barrel. As I was looking at it they started to drag the other peices out of the lake. I think I may just clean up the barrel and use it as a paper weight.

Its not good for anything else at this point.
 
I actually find it pretty amazing that a component from a World War II Italian SMG surfaces in Lake Simcoe ON. The back story of just how it came to be there is wide open, vet bring back who then discarded it is my bet as it looks like its been in water about 50 years. Very nice paper weight non the less.

Go ahead and laugh. See how funny it is when the Black Helicopters circle the house, and you look out the window to see a lot of serious looking guys armed to the teeth surrounding the house, and the TV crews camped on your front lawn.;)

I think I would go along with the premise that it was a "bring back" from WWII and with that amount of rust and such, was probably taken apart and thrown in the Lake quite a long time ago, possibly when the "Gun Laws" came into effect. Maybe by the Vet himself, or possibly when he passed away and his family got scared.

Should be an intersting conversation piece, but without the RECEIVER itself, it is merely rusted metal and not a firearm.
