Well........I was offered a BNIB Gen 4 G17 yesterday for a good price,so I brought it home....meh...might as well see what all the hype is about. I haven't fired it yet, but I did dissect the heck out of the "mighty Glock" to see what makes it tick.....I'm on the fence with how this thing is constructed....I mean, it obviously works well, but a subframe would have been a welcomed upgrade instead of the Honda CB750Four suspension guide rod setup. I still feel the rail slide moulded into the polymer frame is a weak point on Glocks....but thats just my opinion. I got a 4 piece backstrap kit that I will never use, because Glock finally got the grip width right!...unfortunately the NHL grip angle still makes me canter down to acquire a site picture. The sights are going to be the first thing I change....I would have accepted one less mag for a set of decent sights, but then again, three Glock mags is nothing to turn your nose up at. I kinda like my new Glock, but when I woke up yesterday morning, I had no desire to buy a Glock... or to even look at a Glock....but now I find myself with one sitting on my desk after fondling it for a solid hour.....so this is a Glock huh?...hmmm

I didn't want a Glock either, but I came around to their unique appeal and I'll never part with mine willingly. I shoot it better than any other gun I've tried. It'll either work for you, or you'll find someone that'll take it off your hands. I hope you enjoy it.

I got my first one on an impulse buy myself, back in 1986 and I will never part with it.

I thought the polymer frame would never last decades, but it has and its still a quality piece that I would not hesitate trusting my life to, its earned that through lots of shooting and never having any failures that I did not create!

What is it about Impulses and Glocks.. I succumbed as well awhile back but the shooting better than my others is still a work in progress..lol

Congrats you need the Hat, T-Shirt. Glock sign and knife to feel a part of the clan now :) Enjoy

I made a trade for a Glock 17 Gen. 4
I'll have to put a thousand rds. through it, before I can honestly say "I don't like it."
Fun working up a load for it, and I'll probably keep it, as everyone should have a Glock in their collection.

I got bit by the Impulse buy bug as well. I never really wanted a Glock, then one day I started watching videos and thought "I want a glock". Soon as phoenix had them in stock, I went down and made a $200 deposit. Still cheaper then buying online. I was gonna get another Sig but the Glock called to me

biught a MP and after shooting it for a few hundred rounds didn't like it, sold it, I am waiting for my HK P30 in the mail. I was going to buy a Glock, but I just hate doing what everybody else do.

I just bought 2 to get geared up for a black badge course at my club, g17 and g34. Was gonna sell one but think I'll keep em both. Both bought from dealers, 650 for the g17, 675 for the g34, taxes in. Both were sold as used but one was never fired and the other test fired then traded in. Both are gen 4 . If I have read correctly the g17 is ok for ipsc production whereas the g34 is not but either ok for idpa production? Either way more guns =better lol

Just put 100rds through my G17 Gen4 today and cant be happier with the gun :) Mine even came with beaver tail backstraps

I got the beaver tails too....the early Gen 4's only came with two back straps... I got four of em'. Apparently the guiderod spring was lightened up a little on the later model as well from what I've read....guess this can be called the Gen 4.5 :)

Please report back when you wear it out.

I've got two Steyr's here that I absolutely love....they fit like a glove and take down easy, but unfortunately accessories are a royal pain in the butt to aquire, and the few dealers here in Canada give you a shoulder shrudge if you need anything beyond an extra magazine. I like Austrian polymer pistols for a host of different reasons, but Glock seems to be the only one who has service worldwide and an endless supply of accessories.

Wednesday I tried that gen 4 Glock 17.

Dang it ! I could put all my 10 bullets in a 4 inch circle a 25 yards ! Very impressed that I could shot it that good for a first try.

Definitly on my ''next'' list.

It will work if you have a solid grasp of the fundamentals. If you don't then it is the user who needs changing not the gun.
