NP 29 Love Hate Story, Need advice

Hey guys,

Just got a NP29 in the mail today. When i opened up the package it was surprising to see what I got for 360.
Comes in a nice box, 2 mags (one mag only fits 4 rounds max due to some welding issue), manual and a good pistol.
The fit and finish was MUCH better than I expected for the price.

Just have to replace the bushing cause it really needs to fit better.

So I took it to the range and shot 50 rnds of 115 REM PMC and 50 rnds of 124 AE. Both Full metal jackets.
On both types of ammo i got 3 malfunctions each. They all had a failure to eject but the next round was being chambered.

So my question is, is this the break in period? Thats why its malfunctioning? or did i get a lemon.
Also should I contact the dealer about the mag for a new one? Everything on the mag is welded shut so theres no going in there myself to fix it.
 
The 4 round problem is common. the nose of the bullet is hanging up on the notch. Just clean this up a bit and it will load 9 smoothly.

The ejection issue is because the extractor needs a bit more tension. The empty is falling off the extractor before it hits the ejector. This is easy to do yourself. You tube will show you how to get the extractor out. Then put the base of it in a vice and push a bit to bend it in a bit, so it grabs the case harder.

Good advice, I'm gonna remember that myself for my next norinco. Ganderite is always good for sound advice. It doesn't hurt to scan his previous posts. Lots of good info there.
 
I had the mag problem too with mine, but it just seemed to go away after a while. I don't recall doing anything to the mag.
I found that I could coax the rounds in if I fiddled with it a bit. After doing that enough times the problem worked itself out.

Mine has been 99.9%. Heck, it never jammed at all until I fed it some reloads that it clearly did not like. (Shorter then usual OAL.) It's only malfunctioned once using known good ammo.

Norcs are build loose for the most part, so they don't really suffer the same kind of teething the tightly fitted high end brands are known for.
Hopefully you get that sorted out. Norcs seem to have a good track record, but the occasional dud does slip thru'.
 
I have found that Norinco mags will work well after you take them apart and deburr them. The feed lips and witness holes and followers all should get a rub with some fine [400 or 1000 grit] wet/dry sandpaper or emery cloth. Reassemble, lube and see what happens.

I should add that I don't like the look of that bushing... I'd be tempted to investigate a warranty replacement for that, unless it's _really_ solid and trouble-free...
 
so i sanded down the mag follower and it works now! i dont know why i didnt think of that earlier lol.
i also bend the extractor a little. hope i didnt over do it.

That bend looks to be a bit much. Shooting will tell the story. Load your mags with 1 round. If the extractor holds the empty, the case will fly out. If it releases the case too early, the case will flop out or get mashed.

how would the case react if its bent to much? fly forward?
