Didn't see one floating around, but if you've harvested some critters with your M305 or any battle rifle, post em! Please also post the ammo specs and distance of the shot.

There are a number of milsurp hunting threads over in the milsurp forum, but those won't include the M-305... I guess I will start the show off.

Mulie doe taken opening day 2010 with my Garand. Load was a 168gr Amax over 48.0gr of IMR-4064. I used the Amax bullets that year because I couldn't find any 165gr SST's. I took another mulie doe with the Garand the following year with the 165gr SST over 47.5gr of 4064. The lad is my youngest, this was his first year accompanying me on a hunt.

Nice! How far was the shot?

That one was maybe 100-110yds. There were 4-5 does in a group in a small clump of bush. My partner was working around the other side of the patch and this got the deer agitated. I saw them beginning to move away from him, so I got down on one knee and got the safety off. They came out of the bush in that slow motion bounding they do and it was roughly like shooting trap. I had the gun up and ready and lots of time to settle into the shot. It hit her while quartering away, went in behind the nearside ribs and exited about midway up the far side ribs. She went about 40-50yds, then fell over.

The second deer was at a paced 208yds offhand, a standing broadside shot that she was nice enough to hold long enough for me get lined up and settled. First shot hit towards the back of the ribs, second went through the lungs and dropped her where she stood. No pics of that one, though. She was a big girl, we had to grunt to get her into the truck.

Both deer were taken in eastern Alberta, northeast of Hanna. It is beautiful rolling farmland with lots of small patches of bush and a large deer population. They feed on crops in the fall, which results in some extremely mild game meat.

About 40 yards. Saw me and walked away in hi speed. A quick "bark" got it to stop at 50y and turn 80 degree to look at me. First shot in the heart. He raised on his back legs and ran away. Two follow shots missed. He fell and rolled over at 60 yards.
Bullet penetrated between ribs, trough the chest, exploded a rib and deflected to run under the skin. About 24" of penetration. Didn't recover the bullet to evaluate weight retention.

With iron sights, that's a nice shot! Don't tell us it was running! :p

That one's fatal mistake was he stopped running at 300 or a tad more out of curiousity. Gave me the split second required, I kept the sights zero'd at 300 and the hit was bang on, even a tad low so he could have been a touch further. 300's pretty close shooting with M14 sights though with a little practice!

I posted in the HUNTING section here but will post a quick pic of my Springfield M1A and my two umingmak(muskox) this year. Two weekends in a row. Shot a small female the 1st weekend and a decent size bull 2nd weekend. I think I was using 180 gr bullets.(can't remember) 1 shot 1 kill both times. Her name is ROCHELLE and she has never let me down. I was probably 50 yards away with the female and lil bit further with the male.
