Well I've Decided To Try And Build An AR15 *** ITS FINISHED *** POST 42

I'll bite. Get a Geissele High Speed Match trigger (and a Geissele SMR Mk1 15" Rail).
:)

Geissele Trigger may be an option as I havent bought a trigger yet but for this build I already have a rail........... but I may have to have a look at it for my next build. ;)

Looking forward to getting my Stag stripped lower and upper receiver from you in a couple weeks hopefully. ;)

For now busy enjoying some good old Newfoundland Weather offshore on a certain oil platform. Good old RDF - Rain Drizzle Fog.

Think a fellow could get some " Bulk " Quantity pricing on Stag Stripped Lower and Upper Recievers? Can never have enough spares kicking around for future builds :)

Well I've decided to take Epoxy7 advice and go the Magpul PRS route for my stock. I'll use the heavy buffer an mil spec tube on another built later.

Also probably going to pick up a Geissele High Speed National Match trigger from Arms East. Then my build is complete, only waiting for the barrel and BCG to show up in several months and I can start assembly.

I have 2 prs stocks, and wouldn't part with them. Even an A2 stock would be better than a collapsible for what you want to do with it

Well the parts are starting to arrive. Just waiting for my Spikes Tactical NiB BCG, Barrel and Geissele High Speed National Match ( Match ) trigger. Trigger should be here from Arms East this week hopefully and I will start assembling the lower.

And a little test fitting of the parts.

Good progress. Sucks that you have to wait for a few parts.

Any timeline on the bcg and/or barrel?

Not to rub it in, but I picked up a Spike's NiB bcg a month or 2 ago on the EE.
It is epicly sweet. Worth the wait regardless, you'll see!

Thanx

Unfortunately it will be around October before I see the barrel and BCG. But I look at it as being worth the wait for the build I'm doing....... Hopefully. ;)

I guess you knew from the start that it would be a long wait.
I think it'll be worth it. You're building something with a purpose in mind.

Yeah I asked Questar before ordering back in May. They told me around 16 weeks for the barrel and 20 weeks for the BCG. It's kinda crappy having to wait but I'm not in a huge hurry. After having to wait on lists for 6 months to a year for some of the firearms in my collection, I've learned to just be patient.

Sure has been great all the advice from people here though. I think I'm putting together a pretty accurate AR for some fun shooting. Now if only it wasn't a range only gun and I could take it somewhere to try and shoot it 300+ yards.

We have BCM and LMT BCG's arriving in a couple weeks.

We also have Rainier Arms Ultra Match Barrels coming soon ;)

If you don't want to keep going with the build, we have SR-25 rifles in stock which shoot sub MOA all day long :D

I appreciate the offer but I have a deposit down already for my order with Questar.

Unfortunately I went to install some of the lower parts kit tonight and found I'm missing a detent/takedown pin spring. So I have to find one before going any further. I kinda expect something like that to happen when a factory is packing small parts kits. Not a huge deal. I have my Geissele trigger coming from Arms East so I will call them in the morning and see if they can slip one in for me.

Try one from a BIC lighter. Not sure if it's small enough. If it's not, stick it in your parts bin anyway, it may fit in other spots. I know I'm using one for thwe front sight detent.

Thanx for the very clever suggestion.

I seem to have located some and will have them in hand this week. Although I don't have my barrel, BCG or trigger yet I just felt I needed to do something with it last night to start assembly. I think I will give Questar a call tomorrow and see if they by chance have an update for me.

Well I got impatient and purchased a WMD NiB BCG and a Kreiger 20" .223 Wylde Barrel. Waiting on the BCG, Geissele trigger and going to pick up a Dlask Muzzle Brake I think. All should be here by Wednesday at the latest.

Here's a pick of a bunch of the parts installed or just loosely fitted.

rebranding at its best ! as seekins doe not make that rail either LOL , I cant tell you who, but the OEM is a good friend of mine. ")

^Yeah that is a cool rail!
You have good taste with all this Stag, Spikes, and Seekins talk... :D

I didn't know that Seekins made the Bar Rail for Spikes. I thought Spikes did everything in-house. Can't blame them for choosing Seekins to stamp their spider on anything.

Have you seen the Seekins lower? Man is it sweet!
I have a Stag lower as well, but if money, or time were no object, I would have built mine on a Seekins lower.

Time is on your side since you'll be waiting for the BCG. Why not get yourself some Arma-Coat and really make it yours?!?
I did mine in their FDE and I was really impressed by the quality of the finish.

Better start telling these guys they don't know what they are talking about. Including Rainier Arms.

Or you could just share your source ;)

well I have a 2x 20 foot chunks of that rail sitting in my shop, so yes I do know who " makes it"
You have to understand, how many people make stuff for other people, look at troy ind, they don't make anything themselves from what I understand.
70% of the ar15 forging houses In the US are now owned by one company , you can count how many people make ar15 bolt heads in house.
We make a whole bunch of stuff for other people now, but its a true OEM so you will never see it on our website.
