Scandium 357?

I'm looking for a light 357 mag, Canadian legal. I've spent a bunch of time looking through manufacturers, and found a few scandium guns, but it's hard to get a grasp on what is out there, seperating the revolvers that would be available in Canada vs those that are not.

Budget is anywhere from 500-1500, lightweight 357 mag, capable of .38 special loads. Anyone have any suggestions?
 
Well it's not made of scandium but I love my Canadian legal version , S&W 686. Price was right, I usually shoot 38 wad cutters but it handles .357 just fine. It weighs 40 oz .Wainstalls says they have them in stock for $899.
 
Look at the S&W 386 XL Hunter. I have one and love it. Hi Viz front sight, 7 round cylinder, 6 inch barrel. I run 158gn jackets over 14.4 gns of H110 with just a touch more recoil than a standard 686. Frame is Scandium with a steel cylinder.

I'm apprehensive to believe that a scandium revolver will hold up to the punishment of .357 loads without cracking significantly sooner than a steel one. I know you didn't ask for my opinion on its durability but i thought I would raise that point.
 
Del Selin who sells on this site has one for sale right now. If you plan on shooting lots of 357 then you better like lots of recoil. My buddy has one and I thought I wanted one until I used his, no thanks. They are fine if all you are going to shoot is 38 special but with full house 357 they are brutal as far as I am concerned.

I am on the Smith & Wesson forum in the USA quite a bit and I have seen posts that talk about issues with these guns if they are used a lot especialy if you shoot light bullets out of them. I have saw pictures of the front of the cylinders that are pitted from the escaping gases, they looked really bad.

There we go, don't need to hunt with it though, so 11.8" OAL is a bit big

I appreciate the advice, but I think your attitude may not be good for the community. Please read your post again. Recommending a firearm be prohibited because you personally think it's dangerous isn't even acceptable, but you're going one step further and saying that because you personally don't like the gun, it's okay for it to be prohibited. Really just a poor, poor attitude. I hope you see the error of your ways one day.

No, I agree. The gun will rarely be used for 357, just wadcutters.

I see that the humour escapes you. - It's not that they are dangerous, far from it, they're bloody painful to shoot. Additionally as someone who has been shooting probably longer than you have been breathing, and politically active for that time, (since the age of 8) and who has owned everything and virtually anything that has been legal since 1979 (firearms that fall into the following classes - 12.3/12.4/12.5/12.6) and who protested C68 when it was new, worked in the industry and saw guns confiscated for no good reason and joined the NFA in the '80's trust me, there are no "errors in my ways". Lighten up junior, it was a joke. Sheesh.

I'm sure you'll understand that a nameless, faceless internet is often a place where sarcasm is lost. You know as well as I do that there are many folks out there who are of the 'if I don't like it, I don't care if it's prohib' mindset. I'm sure you can excuse me taking your joke for reality. No slight was intended, I'm grateful for your years of activism, no need to respond to my missing of a joke on the internet with demeaning names.
 
I have the 327 Jerry M. Edition, titanium and scandium, awesome revolver. But from what I can find a rare bird.

Find a TRR, same thing, less bling.
