As the title states, if I buy an ARMS-18 and want to put my Sightron SIII 10x42 on my M305, what height / size QD rings should I buy (ex: the ARMS-22 rings)?

On a side note, what's with the occasional reports of FTEs with the ARMS-18? I've read that some people need to make minor modifications.

The ARMS-22 medium rings I have clear the rear sights however my scope 2.5-10x44 is too large for the medium rings so I will hopefully be putting on a x32 scope on it and it should clear.

As for the FTE's I believe it is due to either the ejector or extractor springs. I replaced mine with the Wolfe springs and so far it seems to be working properly.

You cannot use the iron sights with arms 22 medium rings and a 2.5-10x44 Vortex Viper PST using the ARMS 18 mount. You can still use the scope just not the iron sights.

Arms 18 mount ,Arms 22 low QD rings , Bushnell tactical 10x . When I first got the mount I ran about 50 rounds or so with with just the scope mount (no scope or rings mounted ). I had no FTE,s but once the scope and rings were added I started getting FTE,s .I bought a bolt disassembly tool and cut a few coils off of the extractor and ejector springs and this seems to have fixed it.
Also took more of 45ACP,s advice and removed the c clip on the the side mounting bolt of the ARMS 18 before installing the mount.
Great mounting system but it may need a bit of tweaking . I was able to retain my rear sights when its mounted .

How's the Archangel stock working for you???

Nice Ergonomics but it isn't a JAE ... I think for the money its a good deal and I like mine.
There is some stock inletting that needs to be done to get them to fit right but its an easy fix .

has your accuracy improved much? As i currently have a USGI stock on mine and am not sure if it will be worth the upgrade?

If you are just after an improvement in accuracy I would suggest spending the big bucks and get a JAE . The accuracy improved a little and the ergonomics improved alot.

I had a USGI fiberglass on it before which weighed aprox 39 oz or so and the new stock weighs 4.2 lbs according to their website ...so I gained a couple pounds. The balance of the rifle feels good though. I have a couple of these rifles so I don't hunt with this one ....its just for the rifle range .

So ARMS-18 and medium height ARMS-22 rings should be a safe way to go?

I want the QD rings so I can switch between the scope and irons depending on what I'm in the mood for on the range or if I take it hunting.

I used low rings on my bushnell 10x....40 mm objective lens. If you look at the pics I provided it shows a bit of a gap between the scope and front handguard even with the butler creeek lens cap installed. ..so a low set MAY work for ya.

What about the Leopold QRW detachable rings or the Warne Maxima detachable rings? They are both almost half the price of the ARMS-22 rings. Anyone have any experience with them?

I took a fast look at my mount and there is almost 1/2 inch gap between the rear sight and the rear tube on my scope , the bell part of the scope sits behind the aperature.I couldnt take pics last night and will do it tommorow when I get home.
