45 ACP powder suggestion

I used Titegroup for a long time and liked it then tried N320 now almost everything I reload is VV powders. Titegroup is awesome don't get me wrong but VV are cleaner and more consistent in my experience

I have tried N320 but for nearly double the price of Titegroup it isn't worth it.
If I could shoot well enough to see the difference on paper then maybe.

i'm looking for some powder suggestion for the 45ACP. i'll be using 200gr lead. the powder i would like to try is N310,N320,N340.

thanks for the suggestion

My go to target load in .45ACP is 6.2 gr of N340 with the Berry's 200 gr FP. My practice load is 6.1 gr of N340 with a 200 gr lead SWC.

You'll find VV powders burn much cleaner than the others mentioned if price is not an issue.

i'm using clays at the moment it's really smokie. i just wanted to see what other people are using. plus i heard that VV powder burn really clean

Clays is one of the cleanest burning powders I use. Are you using cast, lubed bullets? If you are, that's where the smoke is from and powder choice won't make much difference.

Its dirty and gummy, but I stubbornly cling to Unique for the .45 auto. Not only does it give me the velocity I'm after, its works well for cast bullet rifle loads, and for midrange loads in the .357 and .44.

Clays is filthy compared to VV, cast bullets aside.

Compare two cleaned pistols side by each and shoot a few hundred rounds in them at a range session. Compare the pistols. The difference is blindingly obvious. VV burns substantially cooler than other powders too.
There is enough powder in a pound to do more than 1000 hand loads of typical pistol calibers, and that translates to around a $15-20 increase per thousand - I don't buy into the "It's so much more expensive" argument based on cost of powder alone.
If I'm happily 'wasting' my time putting together ammo, I'm more interested in putting together quality ammo than run of the mill stuff. Ymmv.

I'm a fan of N340 in .45 auto
