ALBERTA TACTICAL Infidel 260AI Finished! Range report

It's nice to see you got your rifle in a timely manner. Last year I brought in a 1903 Springfield to get a barrel installed. The guy said 4-6 weeks. OK I thought. I gave them 8 weeks and called back. Still not done. Finally after 3 months I was told it was on the bench and would be done shortly. After the fourth month I picked it all back up and not a thing had been touched. He basically said he really wasn't interested in doing it anyway. No apologies for jerking me around. Needless to say I won't set foot in that shop again. I suppose if I was going to spend many thousands I might have rated a little more consideration.

Anyway, nice rifle. I hope you enjoy it.

I don't know how that rifle isn't pretty, then again, I don't know how people like wood/laminate stocks. I personally love it, even though I tend to like everything blacked out.
What matters most is that it clearly shoots well. Congrats.

Fortunately beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It always make me wonder if precision shooters are really that clumsy to require such monstrous bolt knobs. As ugly as it looks I am sure it will be a great shooter and you will be very happy with it.
You're not shy about charging to install them.

Very nice rifle indeed, and it seems to shoot well...congratulations! I really like that AX chassis and the colour is bang on too, and the Canadian made action is awesome.

I shoot a 260AI as well and I really enjoy it, I am shooting the 139 Lapua Scenars and from my 100 yard zero I am only 8.6 mils to 1000.

Beautiful rig! Just out of curiosity, what are kind of spec's are you thinking of using for a hunting rifle?

Thanks for the kind words. Been talking with ATRS some more and waiting to hear how the Proof Research carbon wrapped barrel works out on Rick's rifle. If it turns out to shoot just as well as anything else, the weight savings are a nice treat. would mate it to a regular Remington 700 action in a McMillan Edge ultralight stock. perhaps in a 7mm or 300 of some variety. Just ideas for now!

Oversize bolt knobs - I don't know what everyone charges for labour, but I don't know anyone who installs them for free.

At the end of the night take five minutes of your time and think about how insulting your comment may have been to the OP . I'm starting to question why I've had you do work for me in the past, maybe old-age is getting the best of you.

Complaining about "oversized" bolt knobs? Really?

Here's one reason why I like a larger bolt knob.. I'm a grown adult male that doesn't have hands of a 3 month old baby.

Not to mention other things like it's easier to cycle a bolt in the dead of winter with gloves on, etc..

Lets go easy on the bashing here folks. No need to start something. Guntech is entitled to his opinion, he can feel free to post, it is a public forum after all! I know ATRS build nice stuff and why I keep going back to them. I am sure Guntech builds equally well. I really don't care if someone posts my rifle looks like a turd, I like it!

Well said.

Very true!! Dennis is very well respected and rightfully so as a builder of some damn fine rifles. His tastes are just a bit more towards the traditional sporting rifles, which is good as it allows all to have their flavor served.

Life's lessons so far.
My Dad told me long ago that fortunately everyone has a different taste in what beauty is, which was good as then not everyone would be after his wife.
My mother also told me that if you can't say something nice, shut yer cake hole.

With some of the assorted bashing of late we seem to be driving off some VERY valuable and talented members on this forum. Strange how that works.

OP
Glad we were able to make you happy with your new gun. Just imagine what it can do once you get loads hammered down?

Thanks for the reply, is the m16 style extractor available with a 223 bolt face or just 308?

Not certain yet as we have not made any actions for 223 to date.
We will be making 1 shortly but that will be a couple of months from now. The plan is to use the M16 style extractor but only time will tell whether we can make that particular combination work reliably enough for our demands.
308, the magnums and super magnums we know we can do as we have done a good number of them to date.
