I Really Like this gun , Want one bad .
But why are they so expensive In Canada .
There listed for MSRP $ 1999.99. On the iwi US web site .

Cdn-us dollar conversion, import costs, higher rent in Canada, higher employee salaries, web costs, cell phone monthly pillage, utility costs, cpp, UIC, 35-49% tax bracket, 911 access fee, it all adds up. But hey, mostly free health care.

Edit I love my Tavors

2000US
250US import
25US shipping
2275 USD to boarder

~$2400CDN. in stores they are ~$2800CDN not that far off. they need to make a buck or two, as does the importer and the distributor.
600 rebarrel(what i was quoted) to NR
$3000 not far from the NR price here anyways.

I believe the US ones are also made in the US and the Canadian ones come from Israel, I maybe wrong but that's my understanding.

I just bought on for NR ONE $2650 plus tax, but most places selling for $2750 plus tax, reliable arms in vancouver has a bunch NR ones

You are correct.

The big difference that I see between the US version and ours (Israely made) is ours come with an 18.6" barrel=non-res. VS. the US' tavor comes in at 18"=range toy only unless you buy the longer barrel for more money again. Another thing to point out is that no one is willing to say if the 9mm or 5.45 conversion kits that are being made for U.S models will be compatible with ours, although TV-PressPass feels fairly optimistic that from a glance at a gen 2 that the conversion kits may work.

The U.S. ones I have seen advertised as low as $1680 but of course they are not in stock. They may go this low after the initial frenzy is over. I've noticed a big drop in price at gunbrokers over the last couple of months

Buy an american one through irunguns if it is that much cheaper, but it will be difficult to find the right barrel size.

You mean impossible to find the correct barrel length. IWI US only produces Tavors with 18" and 16" barrel configurations.
One would be forced to re-barrel the US Tavor at additional cost to be non restricted which is the most beautiful thing about this bullpup.

I dont find the Tavor that highly priced, its in the same price range as other .223 non restricted semi auto non-red with picantiny rails rifles

I remember when Tavor's were well over $3k ;)

Thats when they came with the Mepro 21

They weren't rebarreled, they are made in Israel for the Canadian market with the 18.5" barrel, I believe Canada was one of the first civilian markets for them.

Don't buy one then. You have that option.

They are pricey, they are good, they are a privilege to own, and not everyone can afford one.
