Cheap Bushmaster spotting scope

Hey guys,

Just picked up a cheap Bushmaster 20-60-60 scope at crappy tire. Reg. 99, on sale for 49. Now i know you get what you pay for but im still quite an amateur and thought this would be great for seeing .22 holes at 100+ yards.

The thing is, when you turn the focus knob clockwise the entire sight picture moves left and slightly down. Then when you turn it counter clockwise it moves right and slightly up. This makes for quite a bi&ch getting it setup where you want it.

Is this something I should expect from such a low end scope? Or is this a manufacturing defect in the glass inside? Or did it get banged around in shipping or something?

Any input is appreciated!

I bought one on a whim when it was on sale and it broke after a couple range sessions. Some optic inside shifted and no more image.

Yes, whether it is a manufacturing defect or it got banged around in shipping, it is something you should expect from such a low end scope. At the sale price of c. $50 CanadianTire still made a profit. Which means they paid a good deal less than $50, and what they paid covered the cost of shipping it from China and making it. At that price, what do you think it is made of, and how was it made?

You don't have to spend $1000 to get a useful scope, but the threshold is hundreds of dollars above the regular price of the one you bought.

I have one and for the money I like it, usable out to 200yards, perfect for 100yards if you're using lower power scopes, or no scopes, that's about all I use mine for.

I use a full height quality camera tripod, not the flimsy one it comes with.
