I was looking at my dads shotgun today and noticed the barrel had a bit of play to it. The nut on the tube is tight as it'll go yet I can actually rotate it approx 1/16", and what stops it are the grooves on either side where the barrel meets the receiver. Has anyone ever encountered this issue and there a solution? Could it be shimmed? Thanks.

It slips in and gets snugged up by the nut, a tiny bit of dimensional allowance is necessary to ensure mass production parts will fit. Forward/aft movement is zero.

Had a 1200 that continually jammed even after sent back to the factory for repairs. When the shell in the chamber was fired the hook that holds the other two shells in the tube would let both back at the same time.Worked fine if you put one in the chamber and one in the mag but useless otherwise.A buddies 1300 does the same thing.Got rid of it and got a Rem 1100.

Thankfully there haven't been any other issues with the gun in the past. I've shot pretty much any different shell you can imagine with no jamming issues.

It wasn't what shells you fed as long as you didn't put two in the mag tube.Double feed every time.
